Friday Favors + a Long Distance Proposal

christian-siriano-wedding-dress

Happy Friday my lovelies! Hope you all had a wonderful week and are ready for some Halloween fun this weekend! A few of my favorites from around the web…

• Love this ombre feather hairpiece from Mignonne Handmade – and her entire Fall collection actually :)

• Project Runway fave Christian Siriano designed this beautiful dress for Tammy (photo by Galaxie Andrews)

• Remember this beautiful vintage dress from the 500 Days of Summer shoot I styled last year? Well, I’m excited to announce that Mill Crest Vintage (where the gorgeous dress was borrowed from) is now a Featured Vendor of GWS! Check out all their lovely vintage dresses.

• Also new to our Featured Vendor listings are the super cute photography duo of Troy Grover Photographers! Love this Fall engagement session I spotted on their blog.

Attention invitation designers – have you entered Minted’s latest contest? You have a few days left to enter and I’m excited to be selected as one of the judges. Can’t wait to see all the entries!

Vermont Brides: Have you heard of The Vermont Wedding Affair ? It’s this Saturday Oct 29 at The Coach Barn at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne Vermont and it looks pretty rad. Check out all the details here.

I love proposals! I shared this cute one yesterday and here is another sent from reader Carol. Carol’s been a big fan of the site for sometime now and just got engaged. Her fiancé Jason is a musician and wrote a lovely song for her and had videographers InFocus Cinema help create this beautiful video. I have to say, I just love the song! Congrats you two lovebirds!!

See you all back on Monday!

A Handmade Backyard Wedding: Jessie + Jeff

The most important thing to Jessie + Jeff was that they were finally getting married! They just couldn’t wait to tie the knot and I love that! Jessie + Jeff were married at a family friend’s eclectic ranch house in Texas and loved creating most of the details for the day themselves (especially after becoming inspired from blogs such as GWS Jessie told me – so fun!) Jessie’s favorite part about the wedding was actually all the planning + nights of crafting she spent with family + friends! I just love that she said that as those were some of my favorite memories too. Involving the ones you love the most to help create a day about the two of you, what could be more meaningful? Jessie + Jeff also brought their old vintage Chevy Truck to the wedding for some fun photos, played Bon Iver (a fave of mine too!) during the ceremony and used biodegradable confetti for their exit. Congrats to Jessie + Jeff and thanks to Sunny 16 Photography for the lovely photos!

One of Jessie’s favorite details were the red doors above that to her surprise, her dad, father-in-law, and brother ingeniously rigged to slide open right as she was about to walk down the aisle! Talk about an entrance!

From Jessie, None of this would have been possible without the help of our friends and family. None. I know everyone says this but when you have an event such as a wedding it is such a beautiful opportunity to outwardly show love for one another. We felt so loved during our six months of planning. People invested time in us as a couple, not just for the wedding day, but for the life long commitment of marriage as well.

Beautifully said Jessie! We wish you both all the best!

Tim Burton Inspired Engagement Photos

With Halloween coming up next week, I thought Suzanne + Vichi’s engagement photos were perfect to share today! Suzanne was inspired by the work of Tim Burton (director of beautifully artistic movies such as Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland to name a few). His movies are totally bizarre with wonderfully wacky characters, but his movies always have a happy ending with a moral lesson to be learned which I just love. They didn’t want to go full on Tim Burton (might have been a bit too weird for an engagement session!) and I think Jani B Photography helped them find a perfect mix of beauty and weird. Oh, and another fun fact about this couple – they live in Cape Town, South Africa! Just love hearing from our readers all over the world! Congrats you two cuties!

A perfect mix of beauty + quirky! Congrats to Suzanne + Vichi and thanks so much to Jani B Photography (located in Cape Town, South Africa) and to Rose Room for the styling. You can see more photos from the shoot here on Jani’s Blog.
