This Modern Mexico City Wedding Was Packed With Fantastic Florals

Camille + Imran’s Mexico City wedding was a masterful mix of old world + modern aesthetics.

And we’ve got to admit: we’re kind of head-over-heels for this historic, overgrown venue. Jardín Prim is a reclaimed beauty of a building in the heart of Mexico City that was constructed in the early 1900’s. There are sweeping stone staircases, dangling vines, and an undeniable antique charm that served as the perfect backdrop for the clean lines and striking color world of Camille + Imran’s big day.

“The entire city of Mexico City served as a profound source of inspiration for us,” say Camille + Imran of how—with the help of Karla Arroyo— they dreamed up the look + feel of their celebration. “We wanted our wedding to reflect our personal tastes and steer clear of traditional wedding norms. As we explored this beautiful city and our chosen venue, we found inspiration at every corner.”

Camille + Imran’s day was beautifully balanced: antique architecture + contemporary typography. Sophistication + joyful, vibrant color. It found clever and meaningful ways to embrace Camille + Imran’s Guyanese, Indian, and Pakistani roots. And all of its elevated romance was fabulously documented by Alfonso Flores.

So into these bright orange arched invitations from Flur Paperie and their metallic, gold accents

A round of applause for Adri Abraham who created Camille’s textured-yet-elegant low bun wedding day updo as well as her winged + smokey neutral makeup look.

Officially starting an Allium fan club—these lush + vibrant flowers are stop-you-in-your-tracks stunning and they look so organic among the venue’s leafy greenery.

The First Look

We love this fairytale-worthy grand staircase first look!!

Imran looked sharp + chic in his classic black tuxedo from Knot Standard.

How dreamy is Camille’s open back off the shoulder puff sleeve column Anaïs Anette wedding gown from A & Bé Bridal Shop?!

“Maintaining an open mind was key during this process,” says Camille of her surprising dress shopping experience. “The bridal consultant initially presented a variety of dress silhouettes, and from there, we explored different styles. I even decided to try on some fun and unexpected pieces that I wouldn’t have considered initially. Surprisingly, I ended up selecting a dress that was completely different from what I had originally envisioned and I couldn’t have been happier with the result.”

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our first look at the base of a stunning, grand staircase at Prim.
Taking a moment and stepping away with Imran to admire our guests and venue from the balcony
Exchanging our vows, a deeply sentimental and intimate moment we got to share with our people - which will always make us cry no matter how many times we hear them!
The incredible, hilarious, heartfelt speeches that resonated with us and our loved ones, adding an emotional and personal touch to the night.

“We loved our wedding venue so much,” Camille + Imran say, “and we really wanted it to shine without trying to do ‘too much.'”

The Reception

Is there anything classier than a minimalist seating chart? Love the simplicity of the typeface paired with these opulent florals!

This dark wood and rattan guest seating perfectly captured both the subtly tropical vibe and the elevated energy of this wedding.

Not only did Ituarte Eventos cater the reception feast, they also outfitted these gorgeous banquet tables with all of their tasteful + organic decor details.

We wanted something that was not only romantic but was also organic and had a unique twist with a touch of tropical vibrancy in terms of colors.” says the couple. “Matzu and Oly of Allium managed to bring to life the floral arrangements of our dreams. To this day, our guests still talk about how stunning our florals were.

Loving the elegant simplicity of these modern table numbers. And how adorable are those small wooden cutting boards!

All you need are some fresh flowers, some warm neutral table linens, and a mix of ivory taper candles and honey-colored taper candles to recreate the vibe of Camille + Imran’s reception tablescape on your own.

Music is really important to us, and we had to make sure we included the music we loved but also paid homage to our cultures by playing traditional Guyanese and Indian music,” say Camille + Imran. “Because of this, we selected an insanely talented DJ from Toronto (DJ DoubleJ) who is used to playing a wide variety of music. We gave DoubleJ a list of “must plays” and “do not plays” that ranged all genres. He did such a great job working with us to set the right mood at each part of the day. We wanted to make sure both families and cultures were represented!”

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

It’s important to remind yourselves that you’re never going to have everyone you love in the same room ever again- your absolute favorite people in the world all in one place. It’s something so special that it really does feel euphoric. Euphoric is the only way to describe it.
Remember- if small things go wrong there’s a 99% chance people won’t realize it and will assume that’s just the way it’s supposed to be. Stressing over the small stuff is not worth your time and especially not worth your energy!
Take some time with your partner to step away from your wedding guests and just take in all of your hard work alone together. We were lucky enough to do this on a balcony at our venue and it was one of our favorite moments throughout the night- we couldn’t wait to have a moment alone to gush about how our wedding was better than anything we could have ever dreamt of. Then it was back to partying on the dance floor!"

This short + sparkly powder blue look from Simkhai is reception dress perfection!!

Congratulations, Camille + Imran, on your modern, multicultural Mexico City wedding day! GWS wishes you all the very best!
