Orange Crush Wedding Inspiration

orange crush wedding inspiration

When Christina of Simply Modern Weddings found an old book on vintage California orange box labels, she was totally inspired by the art, graphics, and bright colors. Wheels started turning and it wasn’t long until she began dreaming up lots of great wedding inspiration around oranges…

Her team began thinking of the vintage paired with modern – the rustic organic feeling of the orange groves paired with the bold statement that the orange box labels had. The team visualized a clean white modern table with oranges down the center as a runner and citrus colored poppies almost growing out of the runner as the floral – wait until you see it, so super rad! We like it so much, we created an Orange Crush inspired Get the Look.

All the gorgeous photos by onelove Photography.

From Christina, Overall this shoot was an absolute dream to design. We wanted to show a fun California vibe…a sweet couple marrying their crush…and bright colors for the season. This can easily be recreated by any couple looking to add an extra citrusy “pop” to their wedding day!!

For styling our bride, this chic lace dress from BHLDN had a very vintage mod feel, and we loved how the lace pattern mimicked the circle shape of the oranges. Her beautiful floral crown was a perfect fit for the laid back California style. I love how Krista Jon created it asymmetrical, so it stood out without completely overwhelming her head. Gorgeous!!

Our groom looked equally dapper with his fresh seersucker and colorful paisley tie, sometimes the guys can be afraid of too much color…but this shows that it works!! Love the bride’s pop of color on her lips! Lovely hair + makeup by 10.11 makeup.

Love the raw wood place mats and how they bring that organic flow to the clean modern lines of the tablescape!

For the dessert display, the wood fruit crates brought back that free flowing, easy, vintage vibe. The thought was for this display to be an interesting visual piece for eyes to take in the beauty of little treasures that you may find around your grandma’s house, mixed in with delicious sweets…so much more fun than a typical dessert table!! All the yummy treats are by Sweet and Saucy Shop.

Diamonds from Gemesis

Diamonds by Gemesis

I’m like any girl – I love diamonds! But when it came time for Jason to buy my ring, I only had one request, the diamond has to be a conflict-free diamond. So, if conflict-free and eco-friendly diamonds are important to you (and I hope they are!), I have just the place to find a diamond that is both those things – Gemesis. Diamonds from Gemesis are lab created diamonds. Meaning, they are carbon crystal growth and have chemical, physical and optical properties that are identical to mined diamonds. The only difference is point of origin.

Gemesis man-made diamonds are certified by leading gemological institutes and each one is totally unique – just as in nature. Each one takes months to get to the final polished end point and once the rough diamond is created and skillfully cut + polished, it is just as radiant as one created naturally. So gorgeous, right?!

Gemesis Diamonds

Gemesis lab-created colorless diamonds are currently offered in sizes ranging from .50 to 1.50 carats. If you are looking for a diamond that’s a bit different, they also carry yellow colored diamonds and those range in size from .75 to over 2.5 carats.

Wondering about the quality of the diamonds from Gemesis? Well, they are very high-quality. In fact, the cut, color and clarity of both their colorless and fancy yellow color diamonds are consistent with the top-tier of mined diamonds. All Gemesis lab-created colorless diamonds are Type IIa, which is the purest form produced in nature and accounts for only 2% of the global production of mined diamonds.

My Wedding Reimagined: M Loves M

This week on My Wedding Reimagined we are chatting with the lovely Mara from M Loves M! Mara is a stylist, buyer for an online boutique and runs her lovely blog where she shares fashion, recipes and fun trips she takes with her hubby Matthew! Mara + Matthew have been married for 2 years (you can see their wedding photos on her blog) and I’m excited that she is sharing how she would do her dream wedding today if she had the chance to do it again! Thanks so much Mara!!

Did you learn anything from your wedding that you’d change or plan around if you could do it again?
I learned to not be afraid to ask for help. So many family members and friends were more than willing to donate their time to my various crafts and DIYs and give me suggestions for vendors. I appreciated their help so much and know that I couldn’t have done it without them, at least not while keeping my sanity!

If I had my (dream) wedding to do all over again…

your wedding fashion style: My wedding fashion style was much like my personal style- girly, romantic and classic. I’d think I’d like that style to be incorporated again in my Dream Wedding!

MaraFerreira_3

vibe for your wedding + reception: Matthew and I had a small wedding the first time around and I think I’d do that again. I’d want it to be personal and unforgettable for everyone there.

where would you draw inspiration? I’d draw inspiration from our honeymoon in Italy, from the colors to the foods and to the music playing. I’d also look at GWS since that was such a major resource for me. I loved pulling images and ideas and figuring out ways to incorporate them and make them my own.

color palette: I’d love a muted color palate {beiges, creams} with pops of colors like lavenders and greens.

location: Matthew and I got married in California, which was really easy for our families, but if I could do it again I would plan a destination wedding to Italy! We honeymooned there but I think it would be so fun to have all our family fly out for a romantic ceremony and reception under the Tuscan stars. I’d love a villa on the top of a hill overlooking the vineyards, and maybe a view of the distant coast.

the dress: I loved my full style dress but in Italy I think I’d want a slim-fitting lace dress. I love Monique Lhuillier’s Scarlet dress. It’s stunning and so romantic!

the shoes: I love these Valentino crystal covered heels! So girly and fun! I’d probably wear them for only a little bit and then I’d dance barefoot!

the flowers: I’d want white flowers with soft lilac and the fragrance of star of jasmine.

would you DIY anything? what would you DIY? I DIY’d so much for our wedding (seating chart, menu board, favors, programs, centerpieces), so I think I’d want an extremely simple wedding. I’d just want beautiful flowers, delicious food and candles everywhere!

dream photographer: Jose Villa! I loved working with him the summer before Matthew and I were engaged and we have one of his photos blown up in our apartment.

on the menu: Cheese, crusty bread, fresh fruit and lots of wine to start. For the main I’d love grilled fish and homemade raviolis. A tiramisu cake for dessert would be perfect!

soundtrack for the day: I’d love traditional Italian music to be playing. I’d want everyone to escape into a magical Italian paradise for the night!

any fun activities at the reception? Dancing {of course!}, a photo booth to capture silly memories and a sparkler send off.

dream honeymoon? After a wedding in Italy I’d love a honeymoon in Paris!
