Folks, this ain’t your typical Western wedding. We’d like to welcome you to the world of “Western Luxe.”
Conceived + designed by Nikki of Knoble Events, this editorial shoot brings refinement + romance to rustic ranch vibes. Instead of a historic barn venue? A modern, light-filled greenhouse. Instead of weathered wood + wagon wheels? Chandeliers and cascading draped fabric. It’s elegant, it’s rural, and it’s wild at heart.
“A study in contrasts” is what photographer Kelsey Mard calls it. “Modern minimalism meets refined ranch; wild seasonal landscape meeting tailored design. The shoot translates the spirit of the American West into something elegant, textural, and timeless.”
Bolo ties, Stetsons, horses, and prairie grass: every Western detail that Nikki + her team of vendors brought to The Lumen House in Cleveland, North Carolina is elevated by the sophisticated simplicity of the shoot’s design.
“In this editorial, Nikki reimagined Western style by layering details that felt both organic and luxurious,” Kelsey explains. “A moody, grounded palette of burgundy, ochre, and lush greens, punctuated by the soft neutrals of The Lumen House’s modern architecture.”
“She also uses draping in a unique way that completely transforms a minimalist modern hall into an intimate and cozy setting,” Kelsey adds, highlighting the amazing, immersive use of draped fabric that gives this shoot its sumptuous, dreamlike quality.
The style is runway-worthy. The earthy palette adds a groundedness to the minimalism. This one’s definitely for the contemporary cowboy, and—as Kelsey puts it—it’s “a visual love letter to the modern couple who wants to put a western spin on their celebration.”
The horseshoe brand monogram on the envelope? The die-cut cowboy boot save the date? The cowhide envelope liner?! This invitation suite by Alexis Scott Designs is a masterclass in detail-rich minimalism
“The contrast between the clean and modern architecture and the organic sprawl of the landscape was a metaphor for the entire editorial. How refinement and wildness can coexist beautifully,” Kelsey shares of what it felt like to bring this design to life at modern-yet-rural venue The Lumen House.
This strapless stunner from SAINT Bridal Couture!! The structured bodice and dropped waist. The ethereal, off-the-shoulder ribbons. Kelsey nailed it when she called the look “powerful and feminine.”
The design team behind the shoot found this gorgeous gown at Lovely Bride in Charlotte.
Malayà Floral created the “abundant, textural arrangements that were wild yet restrained and chic,” as Kelsey puts it. We’re so into the sculptural use of grasses in this all-green bridal bouquet.
This all-black wedding suit look was “sharp and classic” – and a white cowboy hat makes a wonderfully Western finishing touch
Sunlight + Chandeliers
“The ceremony was staged in the venue’s glass-enclosed greenhouse,” Kelsey says, “where light poured in from every direction.”
“Crystal chandeliers hung above layers of cream drapery, catching the afternoon sun and scattering rainbow reflections across the room.”
“The drapery by Gathered Draping Studio became the centerpiece — soft yet architectural,” Kelsey remembers. “At its base, Malayà Floral created sculptural arrangements of green sunflowers, calla lilies, and textured greenery, echoing the ceremony’s balance of organic formality.”
First of all, these arrangements–with their wildflower aesthetic, single-color vibes, and the way they prioritized texture over color–fall in line with SO many of the wedding flower trends we’re most loving to see. AND bright green is one of our fave wedding color trends of the moment! So we’re obsessed.
“The effect of the ceremony design was timeless and ethereal” Kelsey remembers. “A stage that felt as much installation art as wedding altar.”

We love to see a second look for the groom! OMJ Clothing was responsible for that moody, all-black ceremony suit as well as this chic light neutral ensemble.
Draped + Dreamy
“Nikki’s most inspired design decision came to life in the reception installation,” Kelsey says.
“To transform the venue’s vast open hall into something intimate and inviting, she used sweeping panels of ivory drapery, creating a tent-like canopy that softened the architecture and reframed the space entirely.”
“This textural cocoon was a bold, innovative way to reimagine a modern venue without losing its clean lines.”
“Small details, like stamped leather and miniature horse statues placed among the tables tied the aesthetic together with subtle narrative charm.”

The day’s meal was the work of Field Pea Catering. (LOVING the embossed leather wrap on these menus, btw!)
Party Tables added a homespun textile texture to the table with these brown striped napkins.
China + glassware came courtesy of Curated Events Charlotte. Snag some charcoal black stoneware and antique inspired cut glass goblets to recreate these elegantly Western place settings yourself!
