This Lush, Moody B+W Wedding Was Held on this Bride + Groom’s SoCal Property

We love a full-circle moment! 

Sarah Jon + Bryan first met and fell in love about a decade ago. That’s when their plans to tie the knot first took shape, but the timing wasn’t quite right back then. There’s something so special about a couple with a history together that reconnects, and that’s just what these two soulmates did!

Ten years after those first chapters of their love story, Sarah Jon + Bryan tied the knot at their home in San Juan Capistrano, California. Their luxe black + white wedding day was a little bit country + a little bit Cali, totally transforming their property for the lush celebration. 

“For the design, we wanted to create a moody Palm Springs vibe that felt stylish and sophisticated, but approachable and fun,” says planner Rena of Event Lab Planning + Design. “To give it some edge, we opted for a lot of black elements balanced against natural materials like wood, rattan, and ultra lush greenery.”

A Denim Welcome Dinner

The night before the Big Day, Sarah Jon + Bryan kicked off the celebration with an absolutely darling denim-themed gathering. “We’ve always loved a good theme party,” says the couple, “so when it came to setting the tone for our celebration, we couldn’t think of a better way to do it than with a laid-back ‘Denim Vibe.'”

“Our town has this charming, quiet country feel,” say Sarah Jon + Bryan of San Juan Capistrano, “and we wanted to capture that relaxed, welcoming spirit in the atmosphere of our wedding. With friends and family traveling from all over, we wanted everyone to feel at ease and connected — even if that connection was simply through their denim.”

“The theme gave everyone the perfect excuse to let loose and enjoy themselves, no matter where they were from. Denim was a no-brainer — it’s comfortable, easy, and a style everyone could rock. We wanted our guests, no matter their age, to feel included, relaxed, and part of the celebration from the moment they walked in.”

The Wedding Day

There’s SO much to love about this details shot. The stunning pearly platform peep toe wedding heels. The monogrammed ring boxes. And the “No ugly crying, Bitch” hanky? Perfection.

“The journey to finding my dream dress was everything I had imagined and more — a truly magical experience,” Sarah Jon says. “I reveled in flipping through bridal magazines, curating Pinterest boards, and having endless group chats with my bridesmaids and mom. Each step brought me closer to the perfect choices.”

“For the ceremony, I chose a stunning Ysa Makino gown. Its exquisite beading and delicate lace were the perfect nod to our Italian heritage. It felt timeless and elegant, a true reflection of the day.”

The Ceremony

“For the ceremony, we used natural wishbone chairs,” says planner Rena, “to keep in line with that midcentury vibe you find in Palms Springs.”

“Every inch of the custom curved aisle was dripping with greenery from Butterfly Floral + Event Design.”

You think you love your pups?! Sarah Jon + Bryan included custom mossy living sculptures of their doggies in their greenery-filled ceremony setup.

Our Favorite Memory
From the bride: "There were so many unforgettable moments throughout the day, from the first look with my parents to exchanging our vows and sharing our first kiss. But what stands out most to me was the quiet moment I had to myself just before the ceremony began. While the wedding party was being gathered, I was in the bridal suite — our bedroom, which overlooked the ceremony space. In those few minutes, I took a moment to breathe and absorb it all: the guests gathered to celebrate with us, the breathtaking beauty of the event, and the flawless details of the decor. It was as if time slowed down for those ten minutes, giving me the space to reflect on the day, that precious moment, and the life ahead of us. It felt like I was living in a dream, moments before walking toward my Prince Charming."

The Reception

“We designed the footprint around this incredibly long 180 foot gravel path, that we transformed into a diamond checkerboard walkway from Trejo Dance Floors for the guest experience to feel grand and opulent,” planner Rena remembers. “We wanted all of the more traditional “wedding” things to feel luxe and unique.”

“The reception was meant to be under the desert stars – so we opted against a tent and instead designed a decorative truss structure cladded in a matte black finish and adorned with a fun mix of chandeliers and suspended florals.” 

This ultra-lush, greenery-filled reception setup! We are SPEECHLESS!

And that brings us to one of the key reasons we’re loving Sarah Jon + Bryan’s celebration. It features so many of our favorite wedding trends to watch right now! Rentals from Revelry Event Designers like that stunning b+w bar and those black boho bead chandeliers, turned the couple’s outdoor space into a pop-up luxury event venue.

“A huge highlight was a custom built ‘Swenson Ranch’ hat bar by Rancher Hat Bar,” Rena recalls, “where guests could design their own custom cowboy hat.” What an incredible wedding guest favor! 🤠

Heritage Barbecue kept the country vibes going with a delicious BBQ dinner for guests to enjoy.

This unbelievable themed popcorn station is one of the most incredible late night wedding snacks we’ve ever seen! The SCULPTURES!

SIP SIP Mobile Bar was on site to keep the drinks flowing.

You better believe there was a gown change! “For the reception, I wanted something that would let me move freely on the dance floor while still capturing the playful spirit of our celebration,” Sarah Jon says. “I found the perfect fit in a strapless, full-lace Enzoani dress. Its cowgirl princess vibe was a perfect match for our modern Western theme, and it added a touch of whimsical charm — especially alongside the cowboy hat bar we had set up. It was the perfect balance of fun, elegance, and personality for our unforgettable evening.”

She was incredibly helpful in keeping everything running smoothly on the big day, so we were really able to enjoy every moment of the journey Trust me, it’s worth it!

Cruising in mini luxury cars: now that’s a wedding party entrance! No doubt they were playing some killer wedding party entrance songs to give this super-fun moment an epic soundtrack.

Then! Dang Brother Pizza rolled up in their signature pizza fire truck (a wonderful nod to groom Bryan’s work as a firefighter) to offer guests another exciting festive late night wedding snack option.
