A Surreal Wedding in Spain Full of Inflatable Art

If your wedding venue was once a source of inspiration for Salvador Dalí himself, things might just need to get surreal.

“We wanted our wedding to be an immersive experience,” say Mandi + Kyle of their unforgettably artistic, design-forward destination nuptials just outside Barcelona, Spain filled with brilliant inflatable art installations. 

To create this one-of-a-kind wedding, the Bangkok-based couple collaborated with event designers + planners from Open The Door Events, focusing on creating a celebration that would utterly surround guests with curated sensory input, using “layers of scent, color, and texture that kept everyone engaged.” 

The day’s modern + art-forward aesthetic popped vibrantly against the backdrop of the neoclassical architecture of flour-mill-turned-mansion El Moli de la Torre. “It became a full weekend where guests could soak in culture, music, and youthful whimsy,” the newlyweds say.

Blush pinks + rich reds created a color world that felt like the very definition of romance. Surreal floral sculptures full of roses, carnations, and cabbages flanked the couple during the ceremony, and a bespoke inflatable pink + red archway towered above. And photographer Joy Zamora was there throughout, capturing the day in all its curated, immersive glory.

“The weekend was a big party bringing together all the different parts of our lives,” share Mandi + Kyle. And – like all the very best parties – there was indeed a bounce house. 

“Cool, expressive and unforgettable, it was a wedding that didn’t imitate anything else,” adds Opinder from Open The Door Events. “Kyle + Mandi built a universe entirely their own, and filled it with everyone they love.”

“I wanted to work with creators local to Thailand, where we live and where I grew up. Giving back to our communities matters to us,“ bride Mandi says of why she stayed close to home when shopping for this GORGEOUS structured lace wedding gown by TIARA Bridal Bankok. “Finding looks for the different parts of the day was so much fun, and collaborating with incredible talent to customize each piece was a dream. I knew I wanted custom because nothing I tried felt quite “me.'”

Casa Protea blurred the line between floral design and fine art with this breathtaking sculptural bridal bouquet.

“I Do’s” Under the Inflatable Archway

“From the moment guests stepped through the molino gates, they landed in a world that felt almost bubblegum-bright: pastel pinks, electric reds, sculptural florals, and giant inflatable artworks by Tecno Dimension rising unexpectedly between the old stone walls,” says Opinder.

“Barcelona floral studio Casa Protea brought florals into the realm of sculpture: oversized, vivid, slightly offbeat, perfectly at home among the inflatable art,” Opinder adds.

Opinder describes Mandi + Kyle’s day as “Playful, cool, and surreal in a way that made adults grin like kids. A wedding built around joy, movement, connection, and the freedom to simply enjoy being there.”

“For the ceremony, I wanted to feel like a princess with a fuller skirt,” Mandi says of her incredible fairytale princess gown. “We modernized it with strong structure and minimal lining.”

“Kyle’s look was custom-made by a trusted tailor in Bangkok,” Mandi remembers. “He chose a classic tuxedo—he couldn’t have gone wrong.”

“In my eyes, as long as he was the one at the altar waiting for me, he would have looked perfect in anything.”

Life’s Short: Eat Dessert First

“Before dinner, guests were met with a nostalgic dessert display that blurred the line between comfort and art,” remembers Orinder of Mandi + Kyle’s unique sweets-first post-ceremony moment.

“It was a moment that made people pause; it was unexpected, a little cheeky, and designed purely for pleasure.”

These delectable wedding desserts fit for a surrealist Marie Antoinette were created by Dolce Witte.

Our Favorite Memory
We knew there would be surprises—like the bounce house, which ended up surprising even us. Seeing our friends jumping and laughing felt like giving our guests something delightfully unexpected and truly unforgettable. As a couple, we felt so confident in our team; they took our inspiration and everything they learned about us, individually and together, and translated it into wedding magic. We’re incredibly honored to have worked with our planning team.

“Playfulness was key,” shares the couple about their approach to the day, “and we wanted the celebration to reflect how our relationship has been strengthened by our friends and family.”

“For dinner, I chose a two-piece set—the beaded drape over the shoulder of the corseted top felt so romantic,” Mandi says of her shorter bridal separates second look. “For the finale, a flirty mini was perfect for the dance floor.”
