A Stylish State Fair Themed Wedding in Boulder, Colorado

Isaac + Mark’s state fair-themed wedding in beautiful Boulder, Colorado was a joyful + colorful celebration full of non-stop fun with the snow-capped Rockies as a romantic backdrop.

Based in NYC, the couple has roots in North Carolina, California, and the midwest. “We wanted to celebrate both of our backgrounds with an homage to the county fair,” the couple says. “And Isaac just really wanted a bounce house.”

Event designer Devin Sparkles Design and planners from Collective by Sachs created a tented outdoor setup packed with bold primary colors and plenty of playful country details.

Cotton candy. Champagne. Carnival games.  And of course, the bounce house. This wedding looks like it was an absolute blast, and we’ve got Heather Jackson Photography’s gorgeous documentary-style photos to prove it!

Loving Isaac + Mark’s sweet and simple floral wedding invitations!

Mark found this show-stopping bespoke embroidered wedding suit on Etsy! So into the sparkly details! Colorful custom groom looks Mark’s are one of our fave 2024 wedding trends to watch – and this Etsy shop has been providing many of the grooms with their custom, colorful suits!

Isaac’s wedding day look consisted of fun vintage store finds and his own pair of cowboy boots from high school!

Snowberry Floral Co leaned into the wedding’s primary color palette to create this rustic + charming red, yellow, and blue hay bale ceremony setup.

Stylist Danny Garrity was on wedding day hair duty, styling both grooms.

The Ceremony

Before gathering for Isaac + Mark’s “I do’s” guests were greeted with champagne flutes full of bubbly and cotton candy!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Most memorable moment is tough, but probably our entrance for the ceremony. We tricked the guests into thinking we were coming down the aisle by having our wedding party come down the aisle--but then we appeared on opposite ends at the front of the ceremony site by surprise.

“After exchanging vows, the couple created a mad-lib-style game for the guests,” photographer Heather remembers. “They passed around the microphone to each guest, creating a lot of laughter and happy tears.”

Those gorgeous mountains in the background 😍

Mark’s yellow Doc Marten’s pair so perfectly with the yellow florals in his suit.

Our Musical Choices

Processional: Our friends played a cover of Glen Campbell's "Gentle on My Mind"

Recessional: Our friends played a cover "Past the Point of No Return" from The Phantom of the Opera (lol)

First Dance: "Heads Carolina, Tails California" by Jo Dee Messina (because we're from NC and CA)

So fun that this effortless, mismatched wedding party leaned into the blues and yellows of the wedding’s primary color palette!

Heather Jackson’s documentary style photos are beyond joyful and romantic

Isaac + Mark want to encourage other couples: “Don’t be afraid of bad weather! We had sun, rain, *and* hail…and the guests loved the rollercoaster of it all.”

A Rustic Reception

Strands of red + blue raffle tickets were such a clever + festive way to bring the state fair theme to life!

Tables outfitted with blue gingham tablecloths and blue gingham napkins created all kinds of country charm in the reception tent.

Climbing yellow baby’s breath installations added even more whimsy to the maypole-styled tent supports.

There it is! The bounce house of Isaac’s dreams from Airbound Colorado!

“We opened the theme up to the guests for attire and we had so much fun seeing everyone’s take on what “State Fair” meant to them.” says the couple. “From cowboy hats to bonnets. It really ran the gamut.” We love all the weddings with clever guest dress codes that we’re seeing lately! That’s another one of our fave 2024 wedding trends!

Guests enjoyed snacking on popcorn in cute striped popcorn boxes and sipping cocktails from The Cocktail Co-op before the reception got rolling.

TH Entertainment provided the tunes that kept Isaac, Mark, and their guests dancing all night long.

OBSESSED with the way Isaac’s tie matches Mark’s suit!

Take a look through our huge list of first dance song ideas to find a song worth choreographing a routine to like Isaac + Mark did.

How fun are those groom troll dolls?!

The couple’s state fair feast included dinner from Lulus’s BBQ, pies instead of a traditional cake, ice cream from Sweet Cow, and a late night food truck visit from Radical Sasquatch Dumpling Co..

State Fair Fun!!

We can’t decide which we love more: Isaac + Mark showing off feats of carnival game strength or their epic reception outfit changes.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

A bomb planner! We were lucky enough to use Lindsey Sachs who was top notch. And a bomb photographer. We used Heather Jackson who A. has the most killer vision and B. isn't afraid to get everyone going when/where they need to be!! They were both just so incredibly on top of it. Other best advice we can give is when you start the planning process to create a joint email address specifically for wedding stuff. It makes it so much easier to stay organized!

Do not miss the romantic Super 8mm footage that Heather Jackson Photography captured of Isaac + Mark’s day.

Congratulations on your spectacular state fair celebration, Isaac + Mark! So happy for you both!
