String Lights + Lace for This Earthy, Ethereal Wedding in Tennessee

Tweed. Lace. Flower crowns. Rich, muted florals. Candles. A canopy of twinkly string lights. Emily + Patrick’s enchanted Chattanooga wedding was nonstop earth-tone elegance.

Both Emily + Patrick are graphic designers, so they had a design vision for their day from the start, collaborating to create elements like wedding’s paper goods together. With the help of Heart Pine Planning the couple brought the glowy, neutral, textured romance of their day to life at social club Common House’s unique Chattanooga location—an Italian-renaissance-style former YMCA.

We are so glad OKCrowe Photography was there capturing every dreamy design detail and meaningful moment along the way!

The Anita ivory lace heels from Bella Belle were a perfectly chic + floral wedding shoe choice for this day’s old-world vibe.

Obsessed with Emily’s unique salt and pepper diamond engagement ring? Yeah, us too.

Emily locked in her sophisticated fairy princes bridal aesthetic with this delicate baby’s breath flower crown.

“I wanted a modern dress that had traditional touches — something with a sexy cocktail vibe but I wanted it to be a nod to my mom’s gown,” says Emily of the dress search that led her straight to this stunning long sleeve lace wedding dress. “I had a few dresses pinned on Pinterest that I loved, but knew relatively nothing about gowns (never even tried on a prom dress). I went to The Dress Theory in Nashville, and the first dress I tried on was THE dress. I couldn’t believe the first dress was the one, so I tried on more, and even went to another shop, but once I saw the Frida dress by Flora, I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It even had the perfect nod to my mom’s 80’s wedding gown with a slight puff at the shoulder. “

A Private Moment Before

One of the unforgettable elements of Emily + Patrick’s wedding? The romantic + whimsical glow that Luma Designs brought to the space with this massive canopy of string lights.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our first look and private vows were so special and took away all the nerves before getting in front of the crowd. We both vividly remember the moment we first got a glimpse of the other: it felt like the universe paused, and it was pure bliss.

Loving Emily’s long, almond shaped wedding nails!!

The Ceremony

The day’s dreamy, textured florals full of grasses, greenery, and muted neutral blooms came courtesy of florist Fox & Fern.

Scattered rose petals added so much effortless enchantment to the ceremony’s floral arrangements

Our Musical Choices

Processional: A custom guitar piece the bride's bother played that integrated the chords of her parent’s first dance song

Recessional: Same at the processional!

First Dance: "Magnetic" by Oh Papa

“We collaborated on the ceremony script,” says the couple, “and even hunted for the perfect stone together for a ceremony called ‘The Oathing Stone.'”

We love to hear about all the creative + meaningful wedding ceremony ideas that couples come up with together.

Here’s your sign from Emily + Patrick to do something unique + non-traditional, name change-wise: “We value the concept of marriage bringing together two families, as well as the legacy of family lineage, and decided to both hyphenate our last names to represent the joining of the two families, and the equality within the partnership.”

Explore our favorite lace wedding dresses if you’re as in love with the delicate romance + femininity of Emily’s full lace gown as we are.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

A Pinterest board is just a vibe check — not a to-do-list — build a budget early and stick to it.
Your wedding day should not be about or for your guests.
DO plan your alcohol consumption while the night is young. DON'T plan an early brunch the next day.
Be flexible in your expectations, and know that no day is 100% seamless.
