This Schiaparelli-Inspired Wedding Was All Earth Tones + Offbeat Elegance

Who doesn’t love something a little avant-garde every now and then? Surrealism. Asymmetry. This Schiaparelli-inspired wedding shoot has it all.

Schiaparelli – all the high-fashion girlies and style historians out there already know – is the couture house responsible for some of the most innovative, boundary pushing, uniquely beautiful looks we can think of. Schiaparelli creations are nonstop offbeat elegance. Think classic silhouettes but embellished with quirky decorative elements like key holes, eyeballs, and lobsters. And that creativity runs deep in the brand’s history: when Elsa Schiaparelli first started taking the fashion world by storm in the 1920’s it wasn’t long until she was collabing with visual artists like iconic surrealist Salvador Dalí.

It’s difficult not to be inspired by a boundary-pushing brand like Schiaparelli – especially when they’re responsible for looks like Cynthia Erivo’s Tony Awards red carpet gown, Lady Gaga’s 2020 inauguration ensemble, and this viral bridal moment from a few years ago that we’re still totally obsessed with. That’s why EH Photography, planners + event designers from Events by Genevieve, and an amazing team of Seattle-based vendors came together at Arctic Club Hotel to create this adventurous-yet-elevated artsy, earth-tone wedding editorial based around a Schiaparellian aesthetic. 

“Every detail was curated to blur the line between art and bridal, creating a visual narrative that invites curiosity,” photographer Emily says. “This editorial celebrates creative freedom and pushes the boundaries of what wedding style can be.”

Honest Calligraphy did such a beautiful job of embracing the shoot’s earthy browns with these invites. And the free-spirited calligraphy is such a good fit for the overall vibe.

A unique engagement ring with a chocolate brown baguette cut center stone? We are totally transfixed by this non-traditional sparkle.

Signature scents are such a genius way to remember your wedding day — smell is the sense most closely tied to memory, after all! Love that these creatives went with a fittingly vintage signature scent: “Shocking You” by Schiaparelli from 1976!

“Inspired by Pantone’s trending ‘Mocha Mousse,’ this editorial takes a richer, more decadent approach,” Emily shares of the team’s infatuation with the 2025 Color of the Year, “trading expected softness for deep chocolate tones and refined, old-money elegance.”

We can’t get over the show-stopping pearly metallic sheen of this asymmetrical wedding gown by Angeline Brunk.

Elegantly Avant-garde “I Do’s”

The ceiling! The chandelier! The Arctic Club Hotel is actively taking our breath away.

So into the way that the groom’s wedding suit from Mathias Custom leaned into the earth-tone Old Money color world with a rich chocolate brown.

Second of all: this wedding cake! Cake + Crumble created an edgy, asymmetrical masterpiece.

Celebration: Schiaparelli Style

That keyhole on the groom’s lapel? That’s a nod to a Schiaparelli staple. Elsa Schiaparelli first used a gold keyhole as a clasp on a handbag to add some mystery to the piece, and the it’s been a big part of their design vocab ever since.

How delicious do the reception’s espresso martinis look in those in gorgeous fluted coupes from Fig + Honey Rentals?

This chic seashell stemware is right at home in this shoot’s offbeat, iconographic aesthetic but fits in just as well in coastal weddings like this medieval, mermaid inspired wedding or this ethereal beach wedding.

For drinks, the shoot moved to the warm, wood paneled, and punnily-named Polar Bar.

These simple, pale pink wedding nails were the perfect balance for the day’s edgier elements.

We’re LOVING those long, dangling chan-and-bead bridal earrings!

We can’t think of anything earthier than mushrooms in the floral arrangements! This mushroom-inspired shoot is another great example of stunning flowers full of fungi.
