The Venue Became a Giant Board Game at this Playful Immersive Wedding

As our girl Taylor Swift says in Blank Space: “Love’s a game. Wanna play?”

Anastasia + Dmitry took the game of love to a whole new (very literal) level when they planned this fun + fantastical game-themed wedding at Tulinov Dom. We had to see it to believe it, but it’s true: with the help of event designers from Marito Decor and planners from Drugoe Events, the couple turned their love story into an immersive, larger-than-life board game.

There were oh-so-many playful details and exciting activities built into the celebration, but the part we can’t get over? The wedding took place on a giant custom-designed game board, and that game board was playable. So, after the ceremony – during which the happy couple exchanged vows atop a massive pair of dice – guests could PLAY the game before the board became the reception’s dance floor!

“The concept was built around a multiverse of various games,” says Drugoe Events. “It incorporated stories from the couple’s life—from a date where the groom arrived in a knight’s costume with a bouquet of flowers to spectacular ballroom dancing. In this way, the guests actually ‘played the wedding’ on the couple’s big day.”

Transforming a venue into an interactive, immersive wedding space like this is no easy feat. How long did it take to put it together? “Over the course of six months, we created the massive board game that served as the ceremony area, dance floor, and stage,” explains Drugoe Events, whose giant wedding installation collabs with Marito Decor we’ve been crushing on since this whimsical dreamland wedding and this cyber-surrealist art installation wedding, both of which also have a delightful Alice In Wonderland vibe.

Being able to look back on your wedding and say that you, your person, and your guests had fun? That’s kind of the most important thing when it’s all said and done. That’s why we adore what Anastasia + Dmitry did with their day.

And you’ll see it in these joy-filled photos by Marina Yushina: everybody was having the BEST time.

First: A Polkadot Photoshoot

“We organized a themed photoshoot in the morning,” Drugoe Events remembers, “featuring trendy polka dots, a game die, and the great outdoors!”

Polka dots are having SUCH a moment this summer, and we’re enjoying every deliciously dot-filled second of it. This playfully patterned polka dot wedding in the French Countryside is another amazing example of dots done right.

Polka Dots Heels from Reformation

Reformation is all-in on polka dot heels right now, and we are obsessed.

The Ceremony

“The couple created the artwork for the board based on real-life stories and photographs,” shares Drugoe Events.

“We had a convertible dress made so the bride could have a dramatic train for the ceremony, which could then be detached for greater comfort during the game,” says Drugoe Events of this two-look high low stunner of a wedding dress by Ellegand Dress.

Let the GAME Begin!

“For two hours, guests rolled dice, moved across the game board, and completed challenges based on the couple’s stories,” Drugoe Events remembers.

“Naturally, the game concluded with a prize presentation.”

“Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed various interactive activities: decorating Jenga blocks as keepsakes for the couple, a photo booth and Instax photos, as well as games and contests!”

“The first dance took the form of a flash mob, with all the guests dancing along with the couple,” Drugoe Events says.

These cocktails Danila Bykovsky? Impossibly cute.

A Color-Filled Reception

So much playful color in the wedding dinner decor! We wouldn’t expect anything else from this bold, joy-filled day.

And just like that, the game board became a dance floor!

“The wedding day itself coincided with a special anniversary: ten years since the couple first met,” Drugoe Events explains. “They had met as children at summer camp, and their friendship eventually evolved into a romantic relationship. That is precisely why the evening concluded with a cake shaped like a party hat by Antonina Cakes, complete with party horns and confetti!”

Anastasia + Dmitry, your spectacularly playful game-inspired wedding has us totally spell-bound. Here’s to more creative, immersive, nontraditional celebrations like this one! Congrats to you both and to the entire team that made it happen!
