An Elegant Italian Destination Wedding Full of Colorful Flowers

This one is straight out of our most romantic Italian destination wedding daydreams.

Talia + Nick tied the knot in Piegaro, Italy—a medieval village in the breathtaking hills of Umbria. And the warm + joyful colors they chose filled I Borghi dell’Eremo with a sophisticated, botanical fairytale feel.

“Talia + Nick’s wedding was a feast for the senses,” says planner Alessandra of Che Chic! Weddings, “with handcrafted stationery, an innovative oval table arrangement, and a rich palette of oranges and pinks inspired by the natural beauty of Italy. Set under a canopy of fairy lights, it was the perfect blend of elegance and creativity.”

We know that planning a destination wedding in not for the faint of heart, so we love to hear about the experience from couples like Talia + Nick who put their celebration together from afar. 

“Planning a wedding in Italy was definitely stressful at times, but so rewarding and completely worth it!” say the bride + groom. “The time zone difference from Italy to California meant most of the planning was done via email. Alessandra and the Che Chic! Weddings team were wonderful throughout it all. We traveled to Italy the summer before to meet Alessandra in person for the first time and to find our venue together. From there, we stayed on a timeline (or tried to) and started making decisions.” 

It’s safe to say every one of those long distance decisions was impeccable. We can’t get over the stunning pictures that photographers Matteo Lomonte and Federica Ariemma took throughout the day, and we are so excited to share them with you.

The First Look

Nick’s blue Knot Standard tuxedo was the perfect balance of color + sophistication. And it paired so perfectly with those black Ferragamo loafers.

Talia’s elegant low bun was absolutely the wedding updo this look was asking for.

“After we took photos on the wedding day (it was very hot out), the whole wedding party and our parents sat outside drinking Aperol spritzes in the shade while the other guests were arriving in a different part of the property,” remembers the couple. “It was a fun way to calm our nerves a bit before the ceremony officially started.”

The Ceremony

“Italy has so much natural beauty that we had a blank canvas to go in any creative direction,” the bride says. “We loved the idea of having a bright and colorful, but still romantic wedding, which is how we landed on the oranges and pink florals. I liked the saturated color look, so we had the colors transition from white to pink to orange.”

Our Favorite Memory
The ceremony was our favorite part of the day. Our officiant Noel, who is my cousin, led the most beautiful service and we had my older brother and Nick's younger sister do readings. Nick and I wrote our vows together so exchanging those in front of everyone we love was really special.

The Reception

When in Italy… 🇮🇹 🍊 So fun that Talia + Nick embraced the iconically Italian summertime spritz with their wedding cocktails.

This might be the prettiest blush pink wedding reception seating chart we’ve ever seen.

 “The seating chart was massive with corkages hand painted in Amalfi Coast, one per guest as a lovely wedding favor,” says planner Alessandra.

“Once I looked at the circular garden I immediately imagined a round big table and a circular tent of fairy lights,” Alessandra says, “but the challenge was the number of guests that was higher than the table could fit…”

“This is how we ended up with an oval shape, playing wisely with different types of tables, and combining them. The best challenge ever! I always say that a problem is the opportunity to think outside the box and create something greater!”

Tableset Luxury Rentals outfitted the reception tablescape with dreamy blush + orange details.

We love that all the ornately shaped stationary pieces were cut by hand and that the calligraphy was designed specifically for Talia + Nick.

“Given our guests were traveling so far to be with us, it was important to us that everyone was at a single table for dinner,” say Talia + Nick. “We tried to emphasize the guest experience and create a feeling of togetherness for everyone – this was our north star throughout the planning process.”

“The best moment of the day was the party!” remembers planner Alessandra. “I’ve never seen all the guests dancing, singing and having so much fun all together, no one was sitting! The band selected was so good and involved everyone from the very beginning, it was, without any doubt a great success.”

“Dinner around the semi-circle table with our families and closest friends was exactly what we had hoped,” Talia + Nick say. “We both grew up with big Italian families, so eating has always been central to a celebration. We also had the most amazing orange sunset that suffused the ambiance.”
