It’s shimmery, it’s shiny, it’s totally on-trend! Satin is the current It Girl of bridesmaid dresses and we totally love her versatility. Satin looks good in practically every color and it can actually be a truly forgiving fabric that lends to many silhouettes and body types. All it takes are a few well-curated accessories (sunnies, obviously) and before you know it everyone will be asking, “Who IS she?”
Is satin the same as silk?

So, what’s the difference between satin and silk? The two fabrics have similar characteristics, so it’s no wonder that they often get confused. While silk is made from the larva of silkworms, satin can be made from natural or synthetic fibers like cotton, nylon, and polyester. Both fabrics are glossy and smooth and the thickness depends on the satin’s actual weave. Satin is easier to maintain, machine washable, and is less expensive than silk. This leads us to the next question…
Is satin expensive?

In comparison to silk, satin is far and away the more affordable choice. It’s less time-consuming to make and requires fewer expenses in the process from start to finish. We’d actually recommend satin bridesmaid dresses over silk because it’s more durable for a big day full of photos and dancing.
A few of the satin dresses on this list are even less than $100! But a truly well-made and durable dress will most likely land you somewhere around $250.
