Since they got married 20 years ago, Courtney + Jacob have built a beautiful life together with two beautiful daughters that’s full of travel and creativity.
They also built Jacob Co Creative together, an event lighting design company specializing in absolutely transforming all sorts of spaces + destinations with completely off-grid setups. Jacob is the company’s design mind, Courtney keeps the whole thing running, and as a team they’ve brought unthinkably inventive lighting to venues all over the world.
Two decades of marriage is most certainly something to celebrate, so at the 20-year mark, these two wedding industry professionals pulled together some of their favorite event design collaborators and threw a vow renewal at The Glass Factory in Jacksonville, Florida that was jaw-on-the-floor breathtaking in every imaginable way. When you’re among the great minds of event design, you definitely don’t hold back.
“The inspiration for our vow renewal was rooted in the life we’ve built together and the creative community around us,” the couple explains. “After years in the wedding industry, it was important that the day reflected both our relationship and the collaborations that have shaped us.”
“Design was central to the experience,” Courtney + Jacob say. “With Pejy Kash, the evening unfolded through a series of immersive spaces that encouraged movement and interaction. From floating florals at the ceremony to swings at dinner, each detail felt unexpected and personal, reflecting the energy we love to create together.”
“We trusted Julian Leaver to lead the planning, which allowed us to be fully present and experience the celebration as a couple,” say Courtney + Jacob.“That shift made the day feel even more meaningful.”
Just preparing you now: when you see what Courtney + Jacob created, you’re not gonna believe your eyes. You’ll just have to trust that these pics from Eric Kelly are real. At the vow renewal ceremony? Flowers were suspended from hanging platforms and encircled the ceremony stage, creating a floral world that felt like some kind of vibrant dream sequence garden. At the reception? Yep – swings were suspended from the ceiling as dinner table seating. A moody mist hung in the air. The overgrown, mossy, grassy greenery of the table florals – lush doesn’t even begin to describe it.
And the Jacob Co Creative lighting? Well, you’ll have to see for yourself.
“There is a time to dance, there is a time to feast, there is a time to laugh,” the 20-years-happy couple shares with us, “and a vow renewal is that time in your marriage!”
Courtney stunned in this modern-meets-classic bridal look by Watters. The pearls. The red lip. The drop waist. The bridal headband and cage veil. No notes.

UpDo Guru created such an intricate wedding updo for Courtney and embellished it with plenty of pearly accents and accessories.
“Looking for Jacob’s vow renewal attire started with a trip to Paris looking at the Dior suit and then to NYC to Tom Ford and Prada,” the couple remembers.
“I tried on their suits and then realized that I liked parts of each suit but neither was exactly what I was looking for,” Jacob recalls. “So I ended up partnered with John Craig Clothier, a customer designer, and pulled inspiration from each suite to create my perfect personal style.”
“My favorite part was the custom strap from the Dior suit with my name embroidered on it,” Courtney says. “That was a really sweet touch.”

“I started out looking at a white custom dress which ended up feeling like a stressful process for me instead of an exciting one, and then decided maybe I didn’t want to do white and chose a black gown,” Courtney remembers of how her vow renewal dress shopping journey began.
“Ultimately, I went with a Watters gown which was special for me since they are past clients of ours and pulled in some personal touches of pearl accents with my daughter’s help.”

Saying “I Do” All Over Again
We weren’t lying: Kaleidoscope Floral created a bloom-filled dreamscape for this vow renewal ceremony.
First of all, those floating platforms. It looks like all of these wild, spring-tone arrangements are magically hovering in mid-air.
Second of all, this creative ceremony setup! We love the way guest seating wrapped the platform on three sides, surrounding the happy couple’s vow renewal with all the love in the crowd.
These colors!!! Kaleidoscope Floral did their name justice with this truly kaleidoscopic design.
The ceremony’s modern, see-through ghost chairs fit right in among all of the transparent floating floral platforms. Plus, the way they refract the colorful light from the venue windows is so excellent.

We love to see an industrial warehouse venue come alive with color. This breathtaking balloon installation wedding and this elegantly unique warehouse wedding are some of our other faves.
“We met 20 years ago at a Starbucks in Jacksonville, Florida where Jacob was hired to play guitar, as far we know he was the only paid musician/employee,” share Jacob + Courtney.
“Courtney came for a coffee, and they met, and that was that”.
“We were complete strangers with no connection to each other before that night we met at Starbucks and started dating that night and have been together ever since.“

In the 20 years since their coffee shop meet cute, that Starbucks was turned into Bottlenose Brewing, and — how’s this for full circle — Courtney + Jacob hosted their vow renewal’s welcome party at that very spot!

“Overall,” the couple says, “the day focused less on tradition and more on creating an experience that felt entirely true to us.

“We capture the power of the sun in our lighting,” the couple’s company says about their solar power plan. “And we use that energy to fuel a plan that is beautiful and one that you can feel good about – all at the same time.”
“We plant forests of trees equal to the amount of carbon we produce by driving, flying, or shipping for each and every event,” Jacob Co Creative says of their carbon offset plan.
“The trees we plant absorb the negative excess of carbon creating beauty and balance.”
