This Is What It Looks Like To Host Your Rehearsal Dinner in an Art Gallery

“When modern art meets modern celebration.” That’s how multi-talented event designer/planner/baker Marissa of Sifted and Sugared describes this one. On behalf of all the artistic couples out there, we gotta say, we LOVE that Marissa decided to dive into what it would look like to host a rehearsal dinner in an art gallery!

With sunny San Diego as a backdrop, Marissa assembled an incredible team of SoCal vendors and headed to Walter Redondo Fine Art Collection, the studios + gallery of artist Walter Redondo, where the vendor crew worked together to create this masterpiece of an editorial.

“The design was solely based on Walter Redondo’s work and the creativity behind his art,” Marissa says. “We created the tablescape to compliment and highlight his abstract work showcased throughout the gallery.”

The colors were bold-yet-dreamy. The style was fresh + contemporary but with a timeless flair. Walter’s gorgeous paintings graced the walls. Teresa Ann Photo was there snapping seriously stunning pics. Plus, all of us here at GWS are usually so deep in wedding world specifically that it’s really fun to take a peek at some rehearsal dinner inspo!

“This wasn’t just a styled shoot,” Marissa adds. “It was a fusion of art, creativity, and celebration that truly stands out from the crowd.”

Welcome To The Exhibition

Boho Babes captured the freehand, free-spirited energy of this editorial with this dreamy welcome sign.

Talk about works of art!! Arrangements by Green House Floral Design echoed the themes of Walter’s work while being gorgeous creations in their own right.

We’ll never get over what an incredible idea it is to host an event in a gallery. The airy aesthetic is always so inviting, and the space comes pre-loaded with stunning decor!! This disco cowboy wedding in Denver is one of our fave examples.

Ikebana style arrangements like this one are our fave wedding flower design trends of the moment!

Hostess Haven leaned into a curvy, funky approach to table decor that flirted with maximalist vibes but kept things super classy.

We are completely head-over-heels for the fluted, light wood details of this furniture setup from The Chiavari Guys. It looks like it was made for this gallery space!

Can we just say: diving into this editorial has made us Walter Redondo super fans. The color. The texture. The abstract approach!

Dorothy’s Wine Bar was on hand to supply the editorial’s vino.

We are 100% obsessed with this basque waist look — basque waist bridal silhouettes are one of the wedding trends we’re LOVING to see!

Check out a cute halter neck midi length basque wait look like this dress from Park & Fifth to find a similar silhouette for yourself!

And the pointed toe pumps paired so perfectly. We love this pair from Lulus!

Why yes, that is a beautifully iced, canvas-shaped cookie in the style of the gallery’s artist on a teeny tiny easel 😍 🎨

The Artist At Work

This whole project reminds us of some of our other fave artistically focused weddings like this ethereal sculpture museum wedding shoot and this Brooklyn Museum wedding!

“The unique location came alive with the artist painting live during the event,” Marissa remembers, “making every moment feel like a masterpiece in the making.”

Time For Dessert

In addition to her duties as planner + event designer, Marissa also leaned into the baking-focused side of Sifted and Sugared to create this breathtaking cake.

This gallery-set rehearsal dinner really is such a work of art! We can’t wait to see the celebrations it inspires!
