Tips for Styling Your Bridesmaids to Complement Your Wedding Dress

Style Your Bridesmaids to Complement Your Wedding Dress

As you might guess, I receive a lot of emails from brides with questions about fashion and creating just the right look for their big day. Of those emails, the most frequent question is about pairing their gorgeous gown that they’ve spent weeks/months shopping for with dresses for their bridesmaids – specifically, what should their gals wear to complement their dress? I love helping brides style their looks, so we partnered up with the Nordstrom Wedding Suite to share six different looks for your day along with helpful tips. Hopefully this will help those of you trying to find bridesmaids dresses right now or inspire those of you who will be picking dresses soon!

Which combo is your favorite?

Elegant Bride and looks for bridesmaids

Aren’t the back details so pretty on the wedding gown above?! It’s from the new summer collection Bliss Monique Lhuillier as well as the gown below. Above bridesmaids dress left is by Jenny Yoo and right is by Tadashi Shoji. Below left is by Adrianna Papell and right is by Donna Morgan.

1920's bridal fashion

Aren’t the 1920′s dresses so fab?! The wedding dress is by Erin Fetherston and the dress on the left is by Patra and right is by Adrianna Papell. For the modern look, we picked a gorgeous gown by Reem Acra and paired it with black lace dresses by Tadashi Shoji (left dress + right dress).

We love a short wedding dress and the one above by Donna Morgan is pretty perfect (plus it’s under $250!). We paired it with a sweet pink dress and a lovely blue lace dress. And for a super romantic look, the gown below by Jenny Yoo is quite gorgeous. We loved pairing it with a lotus pink color – short dress + long dress.

So many fun options right?! Selecting your dress and dresses for your gals are one of my favorite parts of the planning process, so get creative and have fun mixing and matching. :) All the dresses featured above (both gowns + bridesmaids dresses) can be found at the Nordstrom Wedding Suite - including the brand new Bliss Monique Lhuillier collection, so head on over to find the perfect dresses for your gals!

I’d love to hear in the comments…what will your bridesmaids be wearing and what is your strategy for pairing dresses to create the perfect look?
