A Modern Pastel Wedding in Dripping Springs, Texas Was The Perfect Setting For This Couple

What happens when a wedding venue owner plans a wedding? The answer is: a wedding day that vendors only dream about, comes to life. As the owner of The Allen Farmhaus, bride Cassie wanted her + husband David’s wedding to stand out from the many other weddings she had seen before; while still making sure the day very much represented them and their relationship.

The inspiration for Cassie and David’s wedding day came from an image of a ceremony backdrop and from there event designer Blaize Lynch with Borrowed and Blue fell into pastel heaven. Along with the floral help from Reiley + Rose, the creative team was able to execute an amazing design. From the velvet mismatched bridesmaids dresses to the unique florals and pink candles, no detail was missed in this modern pastel wedding. It also helped that they had the gorgeous Texas venue that is Mae’s Ridge as a starting point!

C + D couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous day. The couple snuck off into the sunset with photographer Ashley Medrano to capture the golden evening that they were blessed with. It was truly the perfect transition into spring weddings… Let’s take a look!

The Dress

Cassie shared with us how exactly she found her perfect dress:

“I knew long before I was engaged I had to have a square neckline and a long flowing cathedral style veil.  As a venue owner, I always get to hear about the Bride finding her dream dress, so it was incredibly surreal when I finally called Olivia Grace Bridal about coming in to find my dress.  It was such a treat because I actually went to school with Grace, the associate that helped me find my dress.

Without telling me, she had pulled a certain dress and put it on the mannequin so I would see it when I went by to the dressing room.  She knew before I even tried it on, that it would be the one.  As soon as I saw that dress, I immediately asked for it to be pulled, along with some other dresses.  I tried the one she had pulled first and then a few more after that, and I kept coming back to the dress.  As soon as she put the angel veil on to complete the look, I knew this dress was the one.  It was perfect.

After saying yes to the dress, Grace told me this was the one she had specifically pulled for me.  It was so special to hear that she instantly knew it was the dress as well. Shelbi Smith, owner of Moonlight and Moss, one of my best friends, and bridesmaids, specializes in custom wedding dresses and design, so she custom fit the dress to my body.  She made it like a glove, and then made the veil that took my breath away.”

“Our photographer Ashley Medrano remembered every picture I had sent her along the way. She moved with the light to take advantage of every perfect ray of sunshine, and then when the sun went down, took us outside for nighttime shots.  She captured every perfect moment of the night and now we get to relive the wedding every time I look at the album.”

A Reception to Remember

Event designer Blaize Lynch with Borrowed and Blue shared a sweet memory that she had with the bride:

“One of the biggest things that stuck out from this day were words from the sweet bride as she was tearing up during her first look of the reception space – ‘If I had the chance to go back and change any detail about my wedding, I wouldn’t.’ I know that trusting others with your big day can be nerve wracking, but when you have the right vendors only the best can fall into place. My biggest advice to all of my brides is to trust your vendors. Not only in the day or your wedding, but also those leading up to it! Your vision will come to life better than you ever expect it to with their expert opinions.”

“For my florals, Megan Reiley of Reiley and Rose helped me to pick a color palette I loved, and then I gave her my budget and let her get to work.  I didn’t ask what florals she was specifically going to use.  I knew she was the best of the best and that she would exceed all my expectations and she blew them out of the water.”

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our first dance. David and I had only practiced this dance about five times before the big day, and although it might have showed, I wouldn't have changed a thing.  As soon as we heard Clocks come on, we were in our own world.  We were reliving the years of dancing in every place we have ever danced - at home in the living room, out on vacation, out at a bar, I mean we love to dance so we've done it everywhere haha.  We were finally at the point where we could relax.  We were finally husband and wife, everything had gone so smoothly and perfectly, and all that was left was to hold on tight to each other all night, celebrate, and dance the night away.  I remember right at the last minute of the song, David breaking away from me as he had when we had practiced, but instead of just us dancing, he turned to all the guests and signaled for all of them to join us on the dance floor.  It was totally impromptu and a move made out of pure joy to have all the people we love not waste another moment sitting and just get up and dance the night away with us.  We were in a moment of pure happiness that I will always remember.

C + D gave major creds to the vendors that made their day come alive! The bride shares with us their inspiration for the day:

“We took inspiration from how we live our lives and wanted our wedding to be reflective of that.  We love to have fun, dance, keep things light and not take ourselves too seriously.  We are all about experiences and we wanted this to be an experience for everyone to remember and reminisce on.  David and I tried to be as clear about our vision with our vendors and then let our incredible vendor team bring it to life.  All the vendors were seriously all in.  They loved the ideas and ran with them.  From embracing our Processional idea of having the best man come out with boom boxes blaring “What is Love” from the iconic movie Night at the Roxbury to get the ceremony started with some side head bobbing, to wanting the reception to be centered around the dance floor, complete with cold spark sparklers and CO2 guns, every vendor brought their A game.”

“I also asked [my friend] to make me a one-of-a-kind exit outfit – which I have to say, gave me lifeeeee at the wedding.  It was a custom made three piece outfit, complete with a bustier (we took inspiration from Selena Quintanilla on this one), mini skirt, and long sleeve jacket (you know, because of those frisky January temperatures).  Both outfits were a dream.”

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

#1 - Hire PROFESSIONAL vendors.  #2 - TRUST your vendors.  #3 - Trust yourself and what you want your wedding to be, and go for it.  #4 - Let everything go the day of and just be present.

Modern Pastel Wedding Maes Ridge“I cannot stress enough how important it is to hire professional vendors you can trust.  My vendors were the key to making this the wedding I always dreamed of.  There were definitely times when I thought I might not love this or that, but my coordinator, florist, and photographer assured me that I would love it and to trust them.  I am so happy I did, let go, and trusted their decisions.”

A huge congrats to Cassie and David from the entire GWS team!
