This Gothic Desert Wedding Put The “Ghost” in Ghost Town

Pioneertown, California looks like a relic of the gunslinging 1880’s, but it was actually built in the 1940’s so that Western films and TV shows would have somewhere to shoot! Today it’s an eerie, nostalgic place to visit and home to the Pioneertown Motel where Ginny + Danny gathered their guests and hosted their weekend-long frightful festivities!

This cool + quirky couple honored their chilling wedding date (Friday the 13th of October!) by filling their celebration with dark, moody decor and tons of goth and punk rock details. Wanting “something very off-beat, memorable and leaning into Halloween and Beetlejuice vibes,” Ginny + Danny turned to planners and event designers from Wild Heart Events who assembled a creative team of vendors and brought tons of dark-yet-playful touches to the California desert.

We are so excited to wrap up the spooky season with this chic + creepy celebration. Wait till you see how fab the bride + groom looked in their bold and graphic wedding day looks! Thank goodness photographer Alexandria Monette was there capturing all the edgy, eerie, one-of-a-kind magic of this day!!

Wildhouse Ink was behind these b+w celebration schedules. Love that super cute hand drawn map!

Here’s the first glimpse of the gorgeous graphic green, black, and gold Visconti dress by La DoubleJ that Ginny wore down the aisle! “I trusted that I would know it when I saw it without a doubt, and I kept looking for 8 months but nothing,” Ginny says. “The month before the wedding I saw it, bought it, and that was it!”

If you’re loving the crescent moon shapes and darker stones in Ginny’s rings as much as we are, you should check out this list of unique engagement rings we can’t stop staring at.

Danny’s western-wear-style wedding suit is so killer!! even his tie is embroidered to match! If you’ve got some serious boot envy, shop “The Wyatt” black ostrich cowboy boots by Tecovas for a similar pair!

Prepare yourself because the wedding guest style at this wedding is iconic.

Grab some small black ribbon bow barrettes and a vintage slip to recreate this very Wednesday Addams wedding guest look.

This guest’s b+w stripes are right on theme since Beetlejuice was a big source of design inspo for the bride + groom!

The Ceremony

The deep red, greenery-filled florals that Layered Vintage created for Ginny + Danny’s day add so much gorgeous gothic energy to the desert setting.

LOVE that the ceremony guest seating is a mix of vintage church pews and hay bales! Such a perfect blend of the gothic and Wild West vibes. Check out our guide on how to get creative with your ceremony seating to dream up something one-of-a-kind for your own “I do’s.”

Artist Vanae Mary tattooed the bride + groom and any guests looking to get some body art—including the groom’s mom who got her first tattoo ever right there on the day at the age of 80!

This gorgeous, long banquet table and its brocade velvet tablecloth are giving gothic haunted mansion. SO clever to have it shielded from the desert sun by this billowing black tent!

These moody blood-red roses are to die for!

And all this drapey greenery is bringing so much spooky overgrown manor energy!

Snag a set of these Labratorio Paravicini Serpentine Dinner Plates and some tortoiseshell handle flatware to recreate this Dark Academia tablescape on your own!

We cannot get enough of these massive candelabras and their drippy black taper candles.

Grab some black and white striped peel and stick wallpaper to DIY a Beetlejuice-inspired bookcase like the one Ginny + Danny used as part of their catering setup.

Schaffer LA provided the evening’s delicious meal. How inventive is this bird’s nest plating?!

Sansa Asylum was on hand to peer into a crystal ball and tell guests of their fortunes!

These vampiric wedding guests look right at home in front of this overgrown, gothic “Til Death Do Us Part” photo op backdrop!

Along with this delicious cake and its Day of the Dead topper, Ginny + Danny had sweets provided by Desserts To Die For, who of course served treats out of a hearse.

Ice cream performers from Supercool Creamery were part of the evening’s food and entertainment, creating nitro-artisan ice cream while guests watched!

Congrats, Ginny + Danny, on your iconic and ghostly ghost town wedding day! All the very best from GWS!
