“The vibe was a little bit honky-tonk and a little bit garden party and a shit ton of fun,” say Jody + Diego of their sparkly, eclectic outdoor wedding in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jody + Diego met in London, are based in Canada, and have lived all over the map, so wedding guests came to Nashville from around the world to celebrate this international couple. Jody spent a portion of her childhood in Nashville and has always loved “Music City.” And Nashville has since become a special place for Jody + Diego to visit together.
With the goal of creating a colorful, inclusive extravaganza, the couple teamed up with wedding planners from Modern Vintage Events and filled rustic outdoor venue The Barn at Mayo Farm with tons of personality. The iconic property once belonged to Mother Maybelle Carter and June Carter, and superstars like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Elvis Presley are among its famous guest, so it was the perfect spot for a music-loving couple like Jody + Diego say “I do!”
There were great tunes. There was a BBQ feast from Nashville fave Edley’s Bar-B-Que. And photographer Isabelle Selby was there capturing it all!
Jody’s custom gold sequined dress, created by Canadian designer Steven Lejambe, was an absolute showstopper! It even had removable fringe sleeves!!
Diego’s bright green embroidered custom suit came from Nashville-based western wear designer Sarie Gessner of Jukebox Mama. It featured tons of funky details like the Colombian Condor, a scorpion made of tiny flamingos, and cowboy skeletons.

We are SO into branching out with veil colors! This blush veil from Anthropologie Weddings is a great place to start if you’re loving Jody’s gold tone veil.
Jody’s glam hair and makeup look was created by Ava Couture Beauty. Very into that red lip!!
The Reception
There are those removable GOLD FRINGE SLEEVES! Obsessed.
Our Advice To Those Planning Now 1) Get a wedding planner if you are doing a long distance wedding (or even if you are doing local)! It saved us so much stress and heartache having an amazing local team to work with who took care of all the little issues, etc that came up. It meant that we (and our families) could just enjoy the day knowing every detail was being taken care of.
2) Don’t get caught up in other people’s expectations for your wedding. This is your day. Do what feels right for you and will make you happy!
