How the West Was WONderful: A Chic + Modern Montana Wedding

Big Sky Country had a big style moment when the team behind this chic + modern Western wedding editorial rode into Paradise Valley, Montana!

As part of photographer Molly McCauley’s Make Pretty Workshop, a group of visionary vendors assembled under the guidance of event designers + planners from Soiree 99 Events to create a uniquely stylish + contemporary wedding aesthetic with deep roots in the earthy magic of the American West.

The team describes the shoot as what happens “when your love for the outdoors, Montana, ranch life, and style all come into play.” And what better way to capture the historic + cinematic feel of the Old West than by choosing Yellowstone Film Ranch – an operational western town backlot built to resemble the classic western outposts of the frontier in movies – as a jaw-dropping, time-travelling venue!

Jessica Husted Photography captured everything this team dreamed up – from the incredible setting to the organic + understated florals to all sorts of other details geared towards “couples who enjoy the adventure of life + love.”

So saddle up and ride out! Let’s take a gander at this stunning shoot!

How perfectly minimalist are these muted neutral wedding invites from Letter + Ink! Loving the line drawings of the mountains!

This one-shoulder Loho Bride wedding gown from Newhite brought plenty of high-slit sophistication to Paradise Valley. And it paired beautifully with shoes from Jimmy Choo!

The Ceremony

Are are OBSESSED with the way the team utilized the exterior of this reproduction Old West chapel. Who says you have to go inside the church to say your I Do’s!

Every floral detail from The Wild Blume was a love letter to Montana’s ethereal, grassy ecosystems.

This classic black tux from Michael Andrews was an exiting juxtaposition against the rugged landscape.

We love the chic yet natural approach that Kylee Hudson Studio took with this simply wavy short bridal hairstyle and subtly smoky wedding makeup.

This second look from Hinterland Bride is proof that you can go for a minimalist silhouette as a bride and still bring so much personality to your look.

Loving the oval cut simplicity of that three-stone engagement ring by Susie Saltzman.

We are HUGE fans of a bride in a hat. Check out a few of our other favorite bridal hat moments in this unique + colorful Montana wedding, this Texas chic wedding, and this luxurious destination wedding’s day-before picnic.

This amazing plaid wool wedding suit! The perfect look for a stylish yet outdoorsy groom!

The Reception

We can’t stop thinking about the fact that this editorial’s team set up the reception in the streets of the Old West town at Yellowstone Film Ranch!

Also, how genius was it to incorporate elements like rocks and rope into the shoot’s decor!

Tailored and Tied supplied the project’s sturdy, rustic furniture.

And Montana Party Rentals decked out the tabletop with lots of pure + elemental decor choices.

We can’t get enough of the earthy, modern, monochrome vibe of this place setting’s light neutral stoneware dishes and light neutral linen napkins.

Something Sculptural + Sweet

Ever wanted to see a wedding cake that looks like an exquisite block stone carved from the Rocky Mountains?

Very into the sharp edges + modern vibe of this neutral, earthy masterpiece by Sweet + Tarte.

How cute does that reception dress look coming through the swinging saloon doors!

Obsessed with the combo of this high neck short wedding dress from Maison Rabih Kayrouz with those brown suede knee-high wedding boots!

Congrats to the entire team behind this magical Montana wedding editorial! Can’t wait to see the stylish, Western weddings it inspires!
