“Texas Chic”: The Bride Wore A Western Bridal Hat For Her Dreamy Ranch Wedding

Bride Jane (aka Austin, Texas food blogger extraordinaire Koko) has lived in Texas for most of her life. She first connected with groom Josh on the apps during COVID, and their romantic FaceTime dates quickly turned into visit and trips—you see, Josh was based in California. When it became clear that long distance would be too tough, Josh went for the grandest of gestures and moved right to Austin! 

Their “Texas Chic” wedding on a dreamy ranch was full of charming details, fabulous food (obvi) and dazzling disco ball cacti. 🪩🌵

“We both knew we wanted a Texas chic ranch wedding experience and picked Cactus Moon as our wedding venue,” says Jane of their choice to host the celebration at the chic + funky Dripping Springs, TX venue. “As for the rest of the wedding details, Josh let me take full control on that as he had his hands full building our new house in Austin. We divided and conquered as they say.”

And to say we’re obsessed with Jane’s Western bridal hat and its super-cute wedding veil hat band is understating it for sure.

Fun fact: Jane + Josh tied the knot officially in a private courthouse ceremony prior to this big + beautiful wedding day. We love to see couples opt for both big + small versions of the wedding experience. Who says you have to choose just one?!

“I tried on 55+ wedding dresses the past couple of months. I wanted something that wasn’t formal or too poofy,” says Jane. “I knew I wanted to wear cowboy boots and a cowboy hat so the dress needed to be simple enough to match that vibe. I finally found my dress at Cowboy Bride in Austin Texas! The Adrian gown from FLORA was one of the first dresses that I tried on – and I just knew it was it. Vintage lace dress with an open back and soft tulle that was perfect for cowboy boots to peep out from under.”

“We got married in Dripping Springs, the wedding capital of Texas,” says the couple, “so we asked our guests to come dressed Texas chic with western wear, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats – and they did!”

“We had these adorable burro donkeys that served beverages, and even our bartenders dressed up as cowboys.”

We asked food blogger bride Jane what advice she had to share about choosing wedding day fare, and these were her wise words: “Share food that you’d want to eat!”

“I actually already knew what caterer I wanted 10 years ago. Peached Tortilla started out as a food truck in 2010 and I met the owner on his first day of business, and this was around the time I started my blog. In this past decade, Peached Tortilla turned from one of the popular food trucks to a brick and mortar and one of the most in-demand caterers in Austin.”

And as far as wedding late night snacks went, Jane knew exactly which nostalgic Texas nosh she wanted: “I grew up eating Frito pie and wanted our guests to also be able to try that out for the first time.”

Our Favorite Memory
Two step dancing - this was a last minute addition but we wanted something that was a little different than the typical first dance and wanted to give our friends and family who aren't from Texas a Texas experience. 

Our Advice
Everyone says this, but it's really true - it's your special day so make it about you. Don't worry about what your guests want to eat or what kind of entertainment that they want. And it's okay to not have to invite everyone!
