Inside Influencer Nicole Isaacs’ Ethereal Beach Wedding: A “Little Mermaid”-Worthy Happily Ever After

Travel + experience influencer Nicole Isaacs has “mermaid” in her Instagram bio, and she means it. One look at her glorious feed and you’ll catch her deep sea diving with all sorts of incredible marine life and looking *amazing* while doing it, of course. 

So it only makes sense that her wedding to now-husband Eric would be an elegant-yet-ethereal mermaid fantasy. And a destination celebration, no less!

Choosing the a stunning seaside spot for their “I do’s” was a no-brainer for this ocean lover. “We chose Cabo to get married because I wanted to be surrounded by water,” Nicole says. “To me, water is such a powerful metaphor for life itself: It’s healing, cleansing, ever-changing, and represents the ebbs and flows of life and its impermanence. Water humbles us with its force, power, and unpredictability. The way I feel beneath the surface — at home and at peace — is what I strive for in our marriage.”

Nicole truly is the closest thing we may ever get to a literal mermaid, Disney princess vibes and all: “Cabo has become such a special place for me,” Nicole says of her wedding locale choice, “because it is one of the places I often go diving to be with the whales.” 🥹🐳

“Eric and I first dated for 3.5 years in our early twenties,” says Nicole, remembering the beginning of this rom-com-worthy love story. “We broke up in 2012 and spent the next 12 years in what felt like a game of cat and mouse. Back then, we were just kids, and deep down, we both knew we needed time apart to grow individually. Despite the distance, we trusted that if we were meant to be, the universe would eventually bring us back together.”

“I always believed Eric was my soulmate—I called him my Prince Eric because The Little Mermaid has always been my favorite movie, and I love Ariel and Prince Eric’s love story.” 

“Over the years, I started to let go of the idea that we would find our way back to each other,” recalls Nicole. “Life pulled us in different directions, and every time we tried reconnecting, the timing never seemed to work—whether because of distance, life circumstances, or other relationships.”

“But at the beginning of last year, everything changed. I ended a long-term relationship, and word somehow made its way to Eric. His mom, who had always held a soft spot for me, mentioned my name to him, telling him I was her favorite of his past loves. She said she loved my soul and missed me, and this came just a day after Eric and I went on our second “first” date. A mother’s intuition is always spot on—she must have sensed that I was back in her son’s life.”

“Eric and I weren’t sure if the spark would still be there after all these years. But after our first kiss, it was undeniable: the feelings we’d buried had never truly left. From that moment on, things moved quickly. A few months later, we were engaged—because when you know, you just know.”

Our Favorite Memory
Deciding to do a first look was the best decision. It gave us time to be together and have a special moment before all the craziness began. It was calming to be alone together vs. seeing each other at the ceremony for the first time in front of all our guests.

Our Advice
From the bride: "Be as authentic to yourself as you can. Although you have to compromise certain things for your partner, I made sure my wedding felt as authentically “me” as possible. Don’t sacrifice too much for others, it’s the one day you can be a little selfish and make it the way you want. Try and listen to your gut and make decisions that feel right to your soul."

“We made sure we stayed together all night long,” Nicole says of how she and Eric navigated the wedding day. “Even though we were pulled in a million different directions, we tried to stay by each others side as much as we could. I think this is super important to remember for your big day. It goes by so fast so it’s important to remember to enjoy it together as much as possible.”

A Culturally Significant Moment

“Eric’s family is Moroccan, so we incorporated a traditional Moroccan Henna party into our wedding reception,” Nicole says. “The Henna ceremony celebrates our union while honoring Eric’s Moroccan Jewish heritage and ancestral roots (its origins trace back centuries). So for an hour during the reception, everyone wore traditional Moroccan kaftans, I wore a look by Aza Fashions, and we had a henna ceremony accompanied by Moroccan and Arabic music.”

“The temporary henna stain serves as a reminder of the prayers and blessings bestowed upon us. The ceremony brings together both families and strengthens the bond between them. It was such a beautiful and unique way to celebrate Eric’s heritage and add a meaningful cultural element to our special day.”
