The Bride Rocked a Glam Wedding Jumpsuit For This Chic + Vibrant Celebration in Chicago

“We wanted an epic glam rock dance party that also happened to be a wedding,” say newlyweds Rachel + Bob of how they approached planning their Chicago wedding day at Salvage One. “Good music and disco balls were mandatory.”

The couple teamed up with Anticipation Events to create an unforgettable celebration by filling the experience with floral WOW moments, sophisticated sparkle, and iconic wedding day fashion.

The eclectic venue. The bold colors. The glamorous, celebratory vibe. The whole gorgeous day was so chic-yet-playful with delightful hints of retro 70’s-inspired disco design. And Stephanie at Bassos Photography did an incredible job of capturing the magic.

Oh, and we simply cannot get enough of Rachel’s versatile + shimmery wedding jumpsuit. If you’re into unique bridal fashion like we are, this look is a dream come true.

Let’s take a peek!

We love that Rachel went for a pearly pair of wedding boots. You can shop Betsey Johnson Diva boots in Ivory for a similar look!

“I worked with Sarah Varca of Varca Bridal and Giselle at Belle Atelier to create the custom dress/jumpsuit hybrid of my dreams,” Rachel says of her journey to this beaded bodice flare leg removable overskirt masterpiece.

“The inspiration mood board included Elton John, Bianca Jagger and Cher,” remembers Rachel. “If I was going to be the center of attention, I wanted to do it big.”

The First Look

Our Favorite Memory

Bob – "Definitely Rachel’s wardrobe reveal. I didn’t know what to expect, and what I got was everything about Rachel in an outfit."

Rachel – "Besides marrying Bob? Seeing my mom and dad tear up the dance floor."

“My suit is from Nicholas Joseph,” says Bob of his brilliant bold teal look. “My inspiration was whatever felt right at the shop, and don’t outshine the bride.”

Take a look at this kitschy Toronto wedding, this vintage-inspired New Orleans wedding, and this retro Austin, TX wedding to see some of our fave examples of grooms like Bob who went for vibrant green wedding suits.

We’re can’t get over the scale, color, and texture of this breathtaking bouquet! The feathers!! Such a fun touch.

So into the chic wavy side-parted bob and glam wedding makeup look that Deb Petrielli created for Rachel.

There is just something so chic + sophisticated about black bridesmaid dresses. Love the way all of the bold florals pop against this b+w bridal party palette.

The Ceremony

“Even though a lot of Salvage One couples use the indoor ceremony space as a backup, we love it when clients want to go for that as their ‘Plan A,'” says planner Elizabeth of Anticipation Events. Those chandeliers 😍

“It’s such a beautiful space, and the team at Florist & Hound Design blew it out of the water with the ceremony ‘arch.'”

Live string quartet String Theory played Rachel down the aisle.

Couldn’t help but notice that Rachel + Bob’s officiant Jeff added some disco-inspired flair to his look with those incredible metallic dress shoes.

Our Advice

Everyone is going to have an opinion. You don’t have to listen to them. Don’t try to do everything yourself. Ask for help and find a planner you trust! As someone with a demanding job and extreme anxiety, wedding planning was something I was not looking forward to. Anticipation Events made it a breeze. Their exquisite taste is incredibly versatile, and they will find vendors that will make your vision come alive.

After parting with her epic train, Rachel switched into this fab feathery bridal jacket for the reception!

We’re in awe of this towering metallic detail disco ball-adorned wedding cake from Bittersweet Pastry Shop. “It seems like in the last few years most clients have opted for smaller cutting cakes (or no cakes at all!),” says planner Elizabeth, “so we loved that Rachel and Bob really went for it with this four-tiered masterpiece.”

Congratulations, Rachel + Bob, on your chic + colorful Chicago wedding. What a disco-inspired dream! GWS wishes you both all the best!
