Fun Ideas

Welcome to the new Green Wedding Shoes!!!

I am SO excited to introduce you lovelies to the new Green Wedding Shoes!!! We’ve been working on this redesign for almost a year, so it feels great to finally share it with you all! We worked hard to make the site clean, so it’s easier for you to find all the great content we feature.

Much of the inspiration for our new site came from our interactions with you, the GWS community. Whether those interactions were quick comments on GWS, chats over Twitter, messages on Facebook or in person discussions at events,  your feedback is always very much appreciated. During our conversations with you, it’s always an honor to hear your kind words and learn how close you are to GWS.  You’ve created a great GWS community and we’re thankful to each of you for the finding the time in your busy day’s to read and comment on our posts.  We truly hope the new site is well received by you and that it allows you to more easily connect with and inspire one another. :)

Before you start exploring our new site, I wanted to highlight a few of the new + fun features.

First, our new Real Weddings section. When you arrive at our new Real Weddings section, you’ll see a beautiful page highlighting the types of weddings we love to share. Click the type of wedding that interests you and we’ll show you all of the weddings we’ve featured in that style. Since everyone has their favorite way of browsing, we’ve included options to make everyone happy.  If you’re a Pinterest and Instagram fan, you’ll enjoy viewing our features by Thumbnail, or images only. However, if you’re using GWS to research and plan your wedding, you may prefer the List View so you can learn a bit more about the wedding before clicking through. Both Thumbnail and List Views allow you to sort the content by Most Popular, so you can see what other GWS readers enjoyed, and Most Recent, so you can stay up to date on the our latest features and finds!

AND – we listened to the feedback of our planning brides who told us that they wanted an easier way to research weddings in the area that they’ll be throwing their wedding. To make life easier for our brides, we created a map that let’s you easily browse Real Weddings by location, both in the US and Internationally. The number of weddings listed by location will continue to grow each week, so check back frequently to see what’s new in your area.

Next, is our Galleries section. Again, we listened to our readers and gave you an easier way to browse the beautiful images we share each week. When creating our new Galleries section, we hand selected our favorite photos for each of the sections below, so you can quickly and easily check out photos focusing on wedding specific topics. If you find something you fall in love with, you can jump directly to the post in which it was originally featured. You can also view galleries by colors too!

The Inspiration section is where you’ll find posts to help with all your planning, including: bridal showers, inspiration boards, styled shoots, holiday weddings, fall + winter inspiration, music, videos, proposals, wedding trends + more! Feel free to let us know if you think of a new category that you’d like us to add.

Our DIY Ideas + Honeymoon sections show all our DIY projects and honeymoon features, so you can easily find what you are looking for. :)

Find a Vendor – This is our brand new GWS Preferred Wedding Artist Gallery! Nothing makes us happier than hearing success stories from brides and our featured partners that found each other on GWS, so we wanted to make it even easier.

For Brides – We have lots of great categories + artists to help you plan your dream day. Click on an artist and you’ll be able to see a slideshow of their work, find links to their sites, info on them, links to their features on GWS and comments from past couples. We will be updating it with lots more artists in the upcoming weeks, so stayed tuned.

For Wedding Artists - Participating in our new guide is a great way to reach the smart, stylish + creative brides that are planning the types of weddings you dream of working on and featuring in your portfolio. If you’d like to be considered for our placement in our gallery, you can apply here.

My Faves – We saved the best for last….we’re pretty stoked about this section + feature! We’re always so honored whenever a bride tells us that she used GWS to plan and style her wedding, but we also heard from brides that saw a post on GWS that she loved, but just couldn’t find it again. So, to simplify the planning process for our brides, we created a simple way to save and share your favorite GWS content.

On every page across GWS, after every post, each photo in our galleries and each of our artist profiles in our Preferred Wedding Artist Gallery, you will see an I Heart This button. By clicking on that you will be able to save all your favorites into collections on GWS!

Just click the I Heart This button, sign in with Facebook and start saving in 30 seconds. You can organize the items you saved into Idea Boards (flowers, DIY projects, decor ideas, dream vendors, etc) for your own organizational purposes or to share with your friends + family helping you plan your big day! Such a great way to make sure you never lose the photos + features you love the most. You can also leave comments, privately or for others to see, on things you fave so you remember why you were interested in each fave! Pretty rad, right?

Now that we’re finally done building our new site, we’ll get back to work adding lots more photos to the galleries and wedding artists to our  Preferred Wedding Artist Gallery! We hope you love it as much as we do. :)

I also want to thank a few people who helped make this happen. Jason + I worked on the rebrand, the new site architecture + site design. Thanks to Brad and his team at WebDevStudios for taking all our ideas + designs and making them work just the way we wanted! Thanks to Vid and his team at ZippyKid for our new and even faster server! Our awesome assistant Katie who helped populate the galleries and thumbnails – and helped with posts the past few weeks so I could focus on this. But most importantly, I want to thank my AMAZING husband Jason. There is no one else who would work so hard on something with me. We’ve been working crazy 14 hour days the past few months and there is no one else I’d want to be working with on this with. You are the best husband and my best friend. Love you!

The Story of Cinderella

cinderella inspired shoot

Photographers Brittney + Hunter at Three Nails Photography are often told by brides, that “they what to look like Cinderella on their wedding day.” Inspired by this, they decided to turn the classic fairy tale into a modern story for some gorgeous inspiration for us all! Evangeline + Chris are the sweet couple in the photos (a real couple) and yes, the bird is a real bird! They decided to cut out the whole fairy godmother situation and instead made it as if Cinderella made the dress herself which I totally love. :)

The Story of Rapunzel

rapunzel inspiration

I love when creative people get together and put something magical together for no reason other than they want to work on something that will inspire others. This time, the talented team at Connection Photography decided they wanted to share the magical story of Rapunzel. I love their woodsy + romantic take on the classic fairytale –  they even built that super cool “tree house” seen in the photos. Here’s to finding your prince…
