One of my favorite things about the weddings we share on GWS (besides the gorgeous photography + couples madly in love!) are the creative + personal details all our lovely couples bring to their weddings. Today I’m sharing some of my most favorite details + DIY ideas from 2012. Which is your favorite?!
We saw so many great paper details in weddings this past year! I loved all the giant paper flowers from this handmade paper flower wedding photographed by Studio Castillero. And the Giant Paper Flower DIY we shared on how to create these was the top DIY on GWS last year!
The colorful paper flower arch (a DIY by the couple) from this paper flower wedding photographed by Rylee Hitchner was another beauty!
The wedding above used not only paper flowers, but also a super rad rolled paper installation as a fun backdrop for the reception. It was photographed by Annie McElwain and the details were crafted by the couple. :)
Loved the paper streamers used for the ceremony backdrop from this fun Palms Springs DIY Wedding photographed by EP Love – this bride incorporated lots of great DIY in her day!
And this handmade Northern California wedding had one of my favorite paper details – a giant heart made from paint swatches! So rad. Photographed by Jerry Yoon Photographers.
This Colorful Bohemian Wedding had one of the most unique aisle runners I’ve seen – made from dyed sawdust by Pow Wow and photographed by John Newsome.
I loved the location this couple created in a field for their prairie chapel DIY wedding photographed by Jeff Loves Jessica Photography (and how fun is their DIY photo booth backdrop!?)
One of the most stunning bouquets we shared was by Bows and Arrows from this Marfa desert wedding photographed by Natalie Shelton.
The Yeah! Weddings Free Wedding had one of the most unique cake table displays (by Scootabaker) photographed by Our Labor of Love + Max Wanger – as well as lots of other great design details by Bash, Please.
Balloons are still a favorite detail and loved how they were used in the ceremony from this whimsical Tennessee ranch wedding photographed by Simply Bloom above and in the reception below from this handmade vintage circus wedding photographed by Christian Cruz.
And of course Geronimo Balloons were the perfect prop for photos and we loved them in this country brunch wedding photographed by Daniel Lateulade.
We were swooning over all the gorgeous mirror details from this country romance wedding photographed by Studio Castillero and designed by Sitting in a Tree Events.
As well as the details by Sweet Sunday Events from this Bohemian Mod Texas Wedding photographed by Joielala.
How fun were these giant scrabble letters from this handmade Scrabble wedding photographed by Jagger Photography?!
And loved the giant LOVE used in the reception from this classic and chic vintage Australian wedding photographed by Bayly & Moore.
This DIY couple crafted the giant My Beloved sign with string for their crafty reclaimed wood wedding photographed by Frolic Storytelling.
One of our favorite escort card displays was this lucite display by In the Now from this Geometric and Romantic Wedding photographed by Sweet Little Photographs.
And of course ceremony backdrops!
This Eco-Chic Texas Wedding had a gorgeous ceremony backdrop made completely of succulents! Crafted by the bride and photographed by The Nichols.
This book backdrop was perfect for two book lovers to marry in front of! Designed by Bash, Please with photography by Birds of a Feather.
The crafty couple above made this giant heart to use as their ceremony backdrop in their Seattle warehouse wedding photographed by One Love Photo.
And last, but certainly not least, we love that this couple choose to get married at sunrise! Such an unexpected time of day to get married, but it created for a pretty magical wedding and was by far one of our (and your!) favorite weddings from last year. Captured beautifully by Braedon Photography.
We can’t wait to see what all you lovely couples (and talented wedding designers) come up with for your weddings this year! And we already have quite a few amazingly personal + creative weddings to share this January! Can’t wait to share with you all!!
Tomorrow we will be sharing our favorite fashion details from 2012 – believe me, you won’t want to miss those. :)
The giant My Beloved sign is my absolute favorite :D :D
Those are some adorable ideas! There are quite a few that I don’t remember seeing before.
lovelovelove the colors in that flower arch! beautiful.
Amazing details in all of the weddings pictured. I especially love the wheat field idea, and the picture frame photo wall. How interactive and fun for the guests. I also love the use of paint swatches, balloons and all of the giant flowers. As a photographer myself I would have loved to photograph all of these weddings, as they all have such a specific uniqueness to them!
I am totally impressed with the photography of these weddings! I’ve seen the most unique decorations that are complementary to every theme.
Nowadays, there are more brides who prefer to have an outdoor wedding that adds a certain appeal for their special day. I like the idea of the bride and groom surrounded by natural beauty.
So many GREAT ideas….I especially liked the Mirrors, Scrabble Letters and of course the GIANT FLOWERS!! I can’t wait to show my daughter Chloe. She is getting married on 7-13-13 and she is wearing JADE GREEN SHOES at her wedding. She was wearing them when she got engaged so she thought she would use that color for her bridesmaids as well! We will certainly send you some pics :)
Fab weddings, the detail is fantastic and the giant flower decorations are just brilliant!
The images are stunning considered and thoughtful a great page.
This is awesome! I’m so glad you put this review post together. Fabulous inspiration for our 2013 brides! I have to share this!
