A Bohemian Mod Texas Wedding: Kaci + Tad

bride wearing crystal headpiece

I always love sharing the weddings from lovely GWS readers + today’s gorgeous wedding fits right into that category. :) Kaci found her talented photographers – the lovely Taryn + Shelby of Joielala – on GWS and was also inspired from this fun Food Truck Wedding shoot we shared (great shoot to gather inspiraiton from!). They wanted their wedding to be laid back + fun since that is totally them, so they hired Sweet Sunday Events to help them create their vision: a little mix of Bohemian + a little mix of Mod. They wanted a nature inspired wedding with a touch of chevron and vibrant colors. Love those combos! Every last detail was a perfect combination of the two. And wait until you see the super rad archways they created for the entrance to the ceremony + reception! So in love with those. :) Big congrats to Kaci + Tad!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The wedding day was magical. It consisted of love, fresh air and the most perfect moments. My favorite part of the day was the end of the ceremony when the husband and I took a moment to take everything in. All of the twists and turns that brought us to this day and here we were. Just married and ready to celebrate with our closest friends and family. It was such an incredible feeling that I will never forget. The wedding night was also pretty magical with prettiest pink moon you ever did see. Our wedding happened to fall on Supermoon Saturday, the biggest and brightest full moon of 2012. It is also called ‘Flower Moon’ and ‘Milk Moon.’ What a beautiful way to end the big day.

The ceremony was the heart of the wedding day and very important to us. Matt, our dear friend, played the processional music with his guitar. The wedding party walked out to “Strawberry Fields Forever” and I walked out to “Something” by the Beatles. Our recessional song was “Keepin’ It Real” by Mason Jennings. He is one of our favorite musicians and Tad has used his music as a way of expressing his love for me since we were 16. You could call it a little ode to our story! Tad’s sisters chose scriptures to read to us during the ceremony which we hold close to our hearts. Our officiant was Tad’s youth minister years ago. This meant so much to Tad and made the ceremony even more heartfelt.

From Sweet Sunday Events:
Our dream bride walked into our shop last November and we have had a major crush on her ever since. Kaci and Tad have a very clean, modern esthetic, but trust me, they did not lack personality and definitely weren’t scared of pattern or color. Kaci was certain chevron pattern had to be incorporated, which was PERFECTLY a-okay with us, seeing as though we are totally obsessed! The chevron pattern didn’t stop at the wedding invitations. The square arch, our carpenters so masterfully built, displayed the pattern as the red and white stripes on the straws added subtle color. And yellow and white chevron runners accented white linens on tables. Guests were directed to each setup, as they walked through arches with citron accents and large round chalkboards. You can never go wrong with citron!

Tabletops. Oh, the tabletops! Half of the tables displayed patterned linens and we opted for pegboard runners to tone down the busy pattern and white mod candle holders were mixed with hot pink gravel and succulents. A collection of mismatched candle holders, antlers, branches and wood slabs were the perfect combination on the remaining tables. And did you notice the fabric feathers and braids? Of course you did! Aren’t they the perfect little details to make this Modern Gypsy wedding come together swimmingly?! I just can’t stop daydreaming of how wonderful this wedding was. Just wish you could have seen it with your own two eyes, but atlas the shots taken by the talented girls of Joielala will do the trick…

We chose our vendors very wisely and it paid off! One of the most important things to us was the photography so we nailed down Joielala right away. The talented Nostalgia Film also captured the wedding with the sweetest Super 8 video. We wanted our wedding film to have the feel of a home video. We are so in love with retro and classic look of Super 8 [check out their film below!]We are both so glad we chose the style of a bohemian, relaxed wedding. It represents who we are. Special thanks to Sweet Sunday Events for creating our dream wedding day and to Joielala Photo for capturing it flawlessly.
