DIY Glitter Boxes

Step 1: Using a brush, add the white glue to the top of your box. Add a little bit of water to thin the glue so it’s easier to apply.

Step 2: Pour out your glitter onto a flat surface. Dip the top of your favor box into the glitter and tap off the excess.

Cozy Date Night In: Maddie + Keaton

engagement at home

Today’s engagement session is for a sweet couple from Seattle, Maddie + Keaton, who are madly in love + excited for the future. They’re beautiful souls and selflessly opened their lives to be documented by Jasmine Star– and thousands of photographers. Yep, this engagement session happened while cameras rolled live and broadcasted on the internet. It was all part of an online stream for creativeLIVE and lead by Jasmine StarJenn Elliott Blake styled the shoot to create a comfortable environment and make them feel at home.

Inspiration for the shoot began with the desire to create a scene reflective of the quintessential American couple. I was immediately inspired to create a scenario reflective of a “Date Night IN”. I envisioned the couple spending a night at home: celebrating & enjoying each others company, being cozy and lazy on the couch in front of a movie, sipping on warm cocoa, eating sweet treats, playing board games and listening to their favorite music. Jasmine paired with creativeLIVE to stream the shoot for free online while she photographed the engagement session and walked viewers through photographic education. The goal, however, was to make the couple comfortable and enjoy their engagement session. I really wanted to vibe of the shoot to reflect all of those feelings that come while being home: blissful, lazy, relaxed, comfortable, casual and safe – home is that place where you are just yourself. I wanted the shoot to be reflective of the ease that comes from spending time with the one you love in the comforts of your own space just the two of you.

The next episode in Jasmine’s creativeLIVE series will air on February 13th. A great place to get some helpful tips for all you photographers out there. Thanks Jasmine and team for sharing what transpired from the engagement session and sharing your knowledge with other photographers! And congrats to Maddie + Keaton! You two are so adorable and we wish you the best! :)

Handmade Pennsylvania Wedding: Crystal + Andrew

bride and groom

Crystal + Andrew both wanted their wedding day to be a big celebration – filled with lots of help from friends and family! Crystal is lucky to have a sister who is also a talented photographer – Char Photography! Char split the day as a bridesmaid and the photographer. :) The whole family is pretty creative as Crystal’s brothers helped with the flowers, hairpieces + invites, Crystal designed her own dress and Crystal + Andrew together built their dance floor! The day was a combination of a little tradition, and a lot of charm, ease, sentiment and enjoyment. Big congrats to Crystal + Andrew!

Crystal: There are so many favorite moments! The most vivid one is in the morning. A few close friends made a delicious breakfast for us and we all sat out on the patio in the morning sun enjoying the beautiful start of a beautiful day. I was able to soak up the moments spent with those closest to me and feel the excitement of what the day had in store. My second favorite moment was square dancing at our reception! The lights strung over the dance floor were glowing warmly, the wooden dance floor was filled with merry dancing, everyone was having a great time, laughing and dancing, it was so much fun.

Andrew: All I wanted to do was give my bride her dream wedding! With all the detail and hours spent planning and preparing, walking around the grounds that morning and seeing everything come together just as we imagined was like a dream! Not to mention, the day was absolutely perfect – blue skies and fluffy clouds, just like we had hoped!

Seeing our day come together just like we had imagined was so rewarding. Every ounce of time and effort was so worth it. From the drift wood we collected by the sea, to the dance floor we built ourselves out of reclaimed cedar, to the paper goods, bouquets and centerpieces carefully designed by my brothers, to the candy station (designed by my sister-in-law), my Grandmother’s antique dished used on the dessert table, and my sweet mother’s Bible used as a ring pillow. Every bit of the day was packed full of meaning, memories and so much love from those around us. It was such a precious day.

Take a break from planning every now and then and remind yourself what it is you are preparing for. Remember the excitement of what is about to take place! Don't miss out on enjoying such a precious season of life. And on the day of... soak in every bit of it. The smells, the sounds, the laughter, the tears, the love. Every bit of it, embrace the day!

photography: Char Photography // venue: The Tulpehocken Manor Myerstown, Pennsylvania // event planner: Alyssa Glick (friend of the Bride) // floral design: Daryl Good, brother of the bride, did all the bouquets and centerpieces. Bride and Groom built the wooden boxes used for the center pieces // wedding dress: designed by bride and made by Karen Chow, a local seamstress. The rich hue was made by tea dying the fabric! // hairpieces: Designed and made by Daryl Good – brother of the bride // shoes: Sam Edelman // bridesmaid dresses: Anthropologie // hair + makeup: You By Grace // groom suit: Urban Outfitters, Etsy // cinematography: Reflectionography // invitations + paper goods: Wes Good designed, brother of the bride // catering: Lititz Family Cupboard // cake: Bakery at the Cupoard // music: Weeping Radishes – local band + friends of Bride and Groom
