Happy Friday lovelies! I can’t believe September is already here this weekend!! The summer went too fast, right?! Hope you have a fun Labor Day weekend planned and enjoy some time outdoors. If you are in LA, the LA Times Taste of LA is this weekend and should be a lot of fun. Planning to check that out along with some beach time and grilling. Still plenty hot here! Washington Wedding with New England Style: Andie + Christian

Andie + Christian’s wedding in Port Gamble, Washington, balanced traditional New England style with DIY accents. One of Andie’s goals was to make use of the creative people in her life throughout her wedding day, resulting in an event that was not only memorable for the significance of the union, but the involvement of elements that were unique to the couple. From Andie, “One of the best things about being able to create our wedding was the fact that we were able to utilize all of our talented friends to make each detail special and unique to us. From the invitations, to the calligraphy, to the cake topper and even additions to the dress, special friends contributed their talents and love to our day.” Thanks so much to Jaquilyn Shumate Photography for the photos and congrats to Andie + Christian!

I did all of the planning for the wedding, but am most proud of the pieces that I made myself, like the sparkler + match favors, programs, and lemonade stand (with a lot of help from my engineer pal).

Our favorite moment was our first dance together. We were afraid that we would be nervous or awkward dancing in front of a hundred people, but it felt like everyone else melted away and it was just us two.

Don’t let silly little things bother you on your wedding day. Things will go wrong here and there but just remember that this is your one special day to laugh and love and make memories.

Early Morning Engagement Photos: Katy + Parker

I’m not a huge morning person, but these stunning photos of Katy and Parker captured by Nessa K Photography were definitely worth the early morning wakeup call! Katy even wore her mother’s wedding dress for the first part of the shoot (so sweet!) and they picked a field near her grandmother’s house in Frederick, Maryland where the barley was growing golden. They started the shoot at 5:45 a.m. on a foggy morning. Totally worth waking up early for. Congrats to Katy + Parker!
