Introducing Down the Aisle with Chriselle

chriselle-intro

Today I’m excited to announce a brand new series coming to GWS next week! We’ve partnered with one of our favorite fashion bloggers, Chriselle from The Chriselle Factor, to create Down the Aisle with Chriselle. Down the Aisle with Chriselle is an 8 part series that gives Chriselle’s fans and GWS readers a peak behind the scenes as Chriselle plans her wedding. Each week we’ll feature a new post in the series that focuses on a key wedding planning decision, includes a video of Chriselle discussing the decision with an industry expert and is followed by additional decision making + planning advice from GWS. We’ll cover everything from where to start when you first get engaged, styling your engagement photos, working with a wedding planner, finding the perfect dress and so much more! We’ll be sharing our first episode next week and we hope you love this fun collaboration!

If you’re not yet familiar with Chriselle, she works as a stylist by day and runs her popular fashion blog + YouTube channel by night. I highly recommend checking both out, you’ll find some great tips from her!

Our first episode will be all about where to start when you first get engaged. We’ve already filmed the episode, but in my post I’m going to be answering some questions from our brides-to-be to go along with the video. So, those of you who are recently engaged – what questions do you have that you’d love for me to answer? Leave them in the comments and I’ll try to address as many of them as is possible. Be sure to head over and check out Chriselle’s blog and learn a bit about her style. We are excited to help share the wedding planning adventures of a stylist!

Have a great weekend and see you back next week! xo Jen

Fun Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh Wedding: Jillian + Andy

childrens museum wedding

Once Jillian + Andy selected their venue – the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh – the inspiration began to flow. They wanted to incorporate the whimsy + fun of the museum into each element of the day. From the paper airplane escort cards to the crayons and craft paper on the reception tables, they wanted the unique details to bring out the “kid” in their guests. Ultimately, their goal was for everyone to have a blast and they succeeded. Big thanks to Caitlin Thomas Photography for sending this one my way!

Andy: When Kim (the first reader at the ceremony) began reading an excerpt from Oh, The Places You Will Go by Dr. Seuss. We had picked two readers, but gave them the freedom to pick what they wanted to read. Standing there, in front of all of our family and friends, holding hands with my soon-to-be wife, that reading just seemed to capture everything perfectly.

Jillian: Saying our vows. One line has left a permanent mark on me and every time I think about the wedding, it is the first thing that comes to my mind: "I promise to cherish your intellect and uniqueness."

Hire people you trust, but participate in the process as much as your (work) schedule will allow. For us, the best way for the day to reflect us as a couple was for those making the finishing touches and final decisions to know us as a couple. We chose to hire local, independent businesses because supporting our community was important to us - and in the process we ended up not only cultivating meaningful business relationships but budding friendships as well.

And in the end, remember that whatever else happens that day, at the end of it you will be married to the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with, and everything else is just icing on the cake - or pies.

Anne of Green Gables Wedding Inspiration

anne of green gables wedding inspiration

How many of you lovelies have read Anne of Green Gables? Or maybe you watched the movies that were made based on the books? It was one of my favorite books when I was younger. In fact, when I was in 5th grade my family took a trip to Prince Edward Island so my sisters and I could see the farmhouse + woods that inspired the book. :) In today’s fun styled shoot, Stage Right Etc (located in Kelowna, British Columbia) paid homage to the story and setting for Anne of Green Gables while also giving it their own twist – like the awesome tea cup centerpiece!

Gilbert calls Anne “Carrots” when they first meet which makes Anne initially loathe him but it later becomes an endearing nickname when they fall in love. To keep with the carrot theme, Sweet On You make mini carrot cakes for each place setting in a sweet (literally) reference to this nickname. :) Bailey + Yanni, a real couple in love, were their Anne + Gilbert and did an amazing job. The dress “Anne” is wearing was an amazing vintage find! Thanks so much to Jessica Zais Photography for the photos.

In the beginning of the book, Anne renames the tunnel of blossoms Matthew and her ride through from “The Avenue” to “White Way of Delight.” Love that they found a tunnel of blossoms for their dinner location and they even called it out with a cute sign.

So, fans of the book and/or movie, was your favorite scene interpreted above? If not, what was your favorite scene? I’d love to hear in the comments. :)
