A Whimsical + Fun DIY Wedding: Alexis + Evan

And now for a complete 180 in wedding style from this morning’s Halloween wedding we have Alexis + Evan’s bright and colorful wedding photographed by Matt + Angie Sloan of Sloan Photographers. Alexia + Evan wanted their wedding day to feel lighthearted, colorful and fun. They rented a private estate and the entire bridal party stayed at the house for the weekend, so it was basically a weekend of swimming, bbqing and partying – so fun! They put a lot of thought into the little details that they both love. From handmade pin wheels to colored sun glasses and wishing stars in the ceremony, little monsters in the flower arrangements, and the family style food and a candy bar, they incorporated all of the things they both love. Congrats to Alexis + Evan!!

What song did you walk down the aisle to? Yoshime by the Flaming Lips. We exited to Nothing But Our Love by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.

The reception really looked like a magical wonderland! I love all the bright colored globes (and if you are looking for paper lanterns like these, check out Luna Bazaar) sitting on the grass – what a fun idea and different way to use the paper globes! Oh, and this is pretty amazing – Evan’s mother created a magical world in a Wedding Yurt to spend their wedding night in!! They placed it out on the edge of a cliff with an amazing view for their first night as husband + wife.

There are so many. We loved the dancing the Hora, jumping in the pool in our wedding clothes, and slip ‘n slide at the brunch!

Sloan Photographers also sent over some photos from their rehearsal dinner at the property which I loved too, so here's a peek into their rehearsal dinner the night before!

Evan is a bit obsessed with bow ties (I love that!) so they bought bow ties for everyone and he taught them how to tie them so they could all wear them to the wedding the next day. :)

We had so many friends and family involved. All of the little details they created made the wedding so special. We had friends make mixes for brunch and late night dancing, create a creative guest book to sign, buy our favorite candies for the candy bar, play guitar as we came down the aisle, create and tend a bloody marry bar full of our favorite ingredients, hang pictures as people took their escort cards, and decorate the pool with lights for a late night pool party.

Oh, and be sure to check out their adorable wedding film from Esy Casey – Congrats to Alexis + Evan!! We wish you both all the best. :)

Halloween Masquerade Wedding: Amy + Torry

halloween wedding at theater

What a fun wedding this must have been to attend – and so perfect to share today! Amy + Torry have always had an interest in Halloween (their house is even decorated with skulls and other ghoulish treats), so it was only natural that their wedding take place Halloween weekend – it just suited them both perfectly. They also decided to skip a lot of the typical wedding traditions such as the bouquet toss and first dance and kept the day very nontraditional. They hired Rewind, a band that covers 80′s and 90′s songs, who played hits like “Thriller” and “Monster Mash” while “BeetleJuice” played on a large screen in the background. Lots of DIY for the wedding thanks to Amy’s mom and Torry’s aunt who put all the spooky decor together including the flowers. Torry’s dad joined as the officiant for the wedding and guests were encouraged to dress up. Thanks so much to Kristen Marie for sharing this fun wedding with us and congrats to Amy + Torry!
