This Vibrant Florida Wedding Was a Colorful Celebration of Pride, Music, and Fun

We LOVE a love story with sweet beginnings. And what’s sweeter than a Krispy Kreme donut? 🍩 💕

Brides Breaunna + Alyssa first met seven years ago when Breaunna was hired at the same Krispy Kreme location where Alyssa was working. After some back and forth about who would handle the drive thru window, these two got to know each other and began what they didn’t know would turn out to be the romance of their lives.

To celebrate their journey and its delicious start, Breaunna + Alyssa teamed up with event designers + planners from Wilder Minds Events to put together a vibrant wedding at Paradise Spring in Tampa, Florida that would embrace vivid color and fun on an unforgettable scale.

“We have been known together for their entire relationship to go above and beyond. Not just for each other or ourselves but for the people around us as well,” says the couple. “Nothing is too small or too big. But the main goal is to shine and to live in the moment. ‘We don’t want anyone to be bored’ was the name of the game for this wedding.”

There were games and rainbows and performers on stilts. A silent disco celebrated the couple’s love for music festivals. Both brides stunned in their wedding day looks.

And these photographs from Regina as The Photographer did a beautiful job of documenting the joyful, vibrant love that filled every moment of Breaunna + Alyssa’s day.

Alyssa looked absolutely radiant in this intricately dotted floral tulle high neck wedding dress by Riki Dalal that she found at bridal boutique Isabel O’Neil.

“For me, it was a bit challenging. I am more masculine and have not worn a dress in 10 years,” Alyssa says of how she started her journey towards this subtly shimmery stunner of a gown. “I knew instantly that I wanted to wear a dress as a bride but felt insecure throughout the process. I went to 4 bridal shops before I found one. The one I found  was very special to me because it fit me so well. I was able to come off as the “modest” woman I am and stun everyone in the audience by wearing a dress. Most family and friends expected me to come out in a suit during the ceremony, as it was my little secret.”

“Dress shopping was a bit challenging, only because I could not go with my favorite person,” bride Breaunna recalls of striking out on her own to find this Martina Liana dress from Magnolia Laine. “Alyssa and I do everything together, and she always gives me the best advice. Especially with style! I ended up going with my mom, which was very nice, but I still had a yearning to be with my special person. I know some couples shop together for their wedding day, but I was so excited that we did it separately.”

“It took me ages to find the perfect dress, going from city to city, but when you find the one, you really know exactly which one it is!”

A Colorful Ceremony

Arms of Persephone Floral was the floral deign mind that made all of this vibrant magic happen.

“We both wanted our day to be surrounded by our connection and we chose to opt out of having a bridal party so this allowed us to focus on just us and not have any distractions around us,” remembers the couple. “This worked perfectly for our day. Breaunna was able to walk halfway down the aisle with both of her parents side by side. As Alyssa made her grand appearance with her father hand in hand, she was able to meet Breaunna and we were both able to finish walking down the remainder of the aisle together just as planned.”

“We chose to place PRIDE flags on each of our guest chairs prior to their arrival at the ceremony,” Breaunna + Alyssa say. “As we completed our ceremony, our guests were able to use the flags to wave us back down the aisle together. This was very meaningful and touching to us to see all the love and support from our family and friends for our relationship.”

A Toast To The Brides!

“The dream was large: champagne dresses, people on stilts, silent disco afterparties, live music, casino games to win big!,” the couple says. “Enchanted scenery, entertainment, mouth watering food from Elite Events Catering, the best drinks, and more, just for the best company!”

“Our love story has been built on travel, entertainment, and music festivals and we wanted our loved ones to feel the magic we have been building together ever since day one.”

The Reception

WeberScenic put together this subtly rainbow, playfully interactive seating chart that served wedding cocktails at the ring of a bell! 🔔

Also, Game Time Events was on hand to keep guests entertained with wedding games like ping pong, basketball, and golf.

“I had strong intentions on switching over to a custom made suit for the reception which was a great hit as well,” says Alyssa of her outfit switch into this amazing wedding suit from Tweeds.

“My custom suit was most special to me due to the custom prints I had displayed throughout the inside of the suit holding very special pictures of Breaunnna and I from both proposals we had for each other.”

We are SO into Alyssa’s chunky cowprint loafers. So funky + fun!

Also, that white wide brim felt hat is perfection for the tailored bridal vibe she brought to the reception.

Our Advice
Spend time together. People say to plan time together on your wedding day (YES, do this too!) However, the time leading up to your wedding can be extremely stressful. Take your time thinking about what is best for you, what is important for you, do what you both want to do. It is at the end of the day a celebration for your love. Think about the little things, they are important! Even if no one realizes, you will, and you will remember it if it's special to your love. Also, if your gut is telling you something, follow it! You have this one day, but you have months to plan it together, cherish the time, set a time to have consistent wedding planning dates, have fun, listen to each other, and enjoy your time. Biggest tip, buy a bottle of wine, you will need it!

Our Favorite Memory
The most memorable moment for us on our big day would be our first dance. For our first dance we were lucky enough to have a few dance lessons that we attended together. This was a perfect pre-wedding date idea. We really enjoyed tripping over our feet and learning a dance to show our guests.
We couldn't have chosen a more perfect song: “Maybe, by Griz”. This song shows significance in our relationship because it represents a core memory where we held a very important connection we had together, 5 years ago. This moment took place in Tennessee at a music and arts festival known as Bonaroo. In the summer of 2019, Griz performed a live EDM set during sunset hour.  During his set he orchestrated live music, brought out professional vocalists, played the saxophone and was able to incorporate the crowd with such a gracious heart during this golden hour. A foundational moment was created in our relationship that day when Breaunna looked at Alyssa with tears in her eyes envisioning their life together, growing old together, and sitting on rocking chairs with wrinkles that were created from years and years of smiles and laughter. Fast forward to our first dance, we brought this moment back to life, where we played the song that holds so much meaning to our lives. To tie it all together, Alyssa was able to hand select the most talented saxophonist. To sway around our first dance to recreate that perfect golden summer sunset hour we shared at Griz’s Bonnaroo 2019 set when we just knew that this would be a forever thing. We also decided to do a private last dance to ensure we were still able to have that private moment and soak in the last few minutes of our time together.  

“Music for us is a big part of our lives,” Breaunna + Alyssa say of their music-forward approach to reception planning. “We wanted to make sure everyone was on the dance floor and having a good time. We spent weeks looking into a DJ that was just right for us. It is very important to have interviews with all your vendors. We talked to multiple DJ’s but we felt most attracted to one. One who showed us his personality, and not answering questions that he thought we would like to hear. We selected the perfect DJ from Tampa Event Group to find the beat of the crowd and keep everyone on their feet.”

“We were so nervous about getting the perfect songs throughout the night, Alyssa spent days creating a 12 hour playlist of songs we thought we wanted to hear. By surprise, not 1 song from that list was played.”

“At the end of the night, when the lights fell low, we continued our party to a pool deck silent disco with our best friend (aka Dabs) going back to back with our selected wedding DJ, and honestly, this choice of afterparty was the best time for everyone. Switching back and forth between two DJ styles and hanging out with our loved ones while enjoying hookah and pizza was a vibe.”

We want to close it with some post-wedding words of wisdom from these amazing brides: “Everyone gives advice to the couple right before marriage, but not many people give advice to the couple right after. So this is our one piece of advice to you. Take a breath. Don’t forget to enjoy your time together right after, weeks after, months after, and even years after. You’re married now, but the foundation of your love remains the same. Recite your vows, continue to date, continue to laugh, continue to love, and stay kids!“
