Every year Pinterest releases its wedding trends report, and every year it’s one of the most useful data drops in the industry — because it’s based on what real couples are actually searching and saving, not what the industry is pushing. The 2026 report analyzed more than 7 billion wedding-related searches and 16.7 billion saved ideas from 2025, and the picture that emerges is clear: the cookie-cutter wedding is losing ground fast. Couples, especially Gen Z, are treating their wedding less like a checklist and more like an identity. The script is optional. Everything else is fair game.
And honestly, a lot of what’s in here we’ve been watching build in real time. GWS has been featuring non-traditional weddings for over 15 years, and each year couples push things further. Pinterest’s data confirms what we see in our inbox every day. These are the 2026 Pinterest wedding trends worth paying attention to.
1. Venues That Transport You

Glass greenhouse weddings are up 100%. Forest terrarium venues are up 185%. Dream ranch weddings are up 245%. Jazz club weddings are up 1,115%. Speakeasy lounges are up 225%. The through-line across all of them: couples want a venue that does the atmospheric heavy lifting before a single flower arrangement arrives. Spaces that feel like somewhere — surrounded by glass and green growing things, deep in the trees, wide open under a big sky, or tucked inside a room with history and candlelight baked into its bones.
The speakeasy and jazz club numbers are particularly striking. Couples are drawn to venues where the architecture and atmosphere are already doing something — dark wood, low lighting, the sense of a room with a past. The setting itself becomes part of the story, and your photographer will thank you.
We’ve been sharing greenhouse weddings at GWS for years, and they photograph unlike anything else — that diffused light, the living walls, the sense of being inside and outside at once. Ranch weddings are having a particularly strong moment right now, especially in the West. If you’ve been circling a venue that feels like a world of its own, the data is firmly on your side.
2. Opalescent Everything

“Opalite aesthetic” searches are up 2,710%. That’s not a typo. This is one of the most striking visual directions in the entire report, and once you see it, you’ll start noticing it everywhere. Chrome accents, midnight teal, iridescent finishes, dreamy pastels — the look is celestial without being costumey, shimmery without tipping into glittery.
Think pearl-encrusted capes, liquid-finish gowns, florals with an otherworldly sheen, tablescape elements that catch light in unexpected ways, and manicures. The opalescent palette works across every layer of a wedding. The dress, florals, stationery, and even the cake. It sits somewhere between ethereal and fashion-forward, and it photographs beautifully in natural light.

3. The Alt-Bride Aesthetic

Pinterest is calling it “alt-bride,” and it covers a lot of ground: celestial whimsigoth (up 1,330%), red veils (up 255%), black gothic wedding dresses on the rise, Juliet cap veils up 245%, crowns replacing veils for a growing number of people, alt wedding rings are up 275%, and jewelry nails are up 350%.
What ties it together is the same thing tying all of 2026 together. The wedding as a personal expression, not a performance of what a wedding is supposed to look like. If your aesthetic runs dark, maximalist, editorial, or unexpected, this is the moment.

4. Analog Activities and Keepsakes

Written songs as guest activities are up 1,975%. Button picture stations are up 1,140%. Matchbox favors are up 940%. Wedding coloring books are up 105%. The direction is clear: couples want guests doing something, experiencing something, taking something home that isn’t a box of mints in a tulle bag.
There’s a broader analog revival running underneath this — vinyl record weddings up 245%, wedding projectors up 625% (did you catch this recent projector feature we shared?!), newspaper photobooths up 420%. The through-line is presence. Tactile, participatory moments that keep guests off their phones and inside the experience. If you’ve been thinking about a creative guest activity beyond a photo booth, this is the data telling you to go for it.
5. Bouquets That Aren’t Really Bouquets

Fuzzy wire designs are up 1,275%. Bouquet purses are up 1,015%. Beaded flowers are up 305%. Note bouquets (small notes or cards woven into the design) are up 555%. And “bouquet with no flowers” is up 240%. This is one of those trends that looks unexpected in a search result and completely natural in a photo. The bouquet is having a genuine creative moment.
We’ve been ahead of this one. Our bouquet purse Reel we shared in 2025 hit 2.8 million views and has over 54,000 comments. The interest is real, and it hasn’t slowed down. If you’ve been on the fence about skipping a traditional bouquet, consider this your sign.

6. The Groom Is Accessorizing

Men’s jewelry aesthetic searches are up 890%. Pinky rings are up 550%. Hand bracelets are up 595%. Chain necklaces are up 360%. Brooches, replacing the traditional boutonniere, are up 435%. Silver earrings for men are up 875%.
This isn’t a niche signal anymore. The modern groom is treating accessories with the same intentionality as the rest of his look, and the results are genuinely compelling. Silver is the metal of the moment. Cooler and more modern than warm gold. If your partner has been eyeing a chain or a ring stack and wasn’t sure it was “wedding appropriate,” 2026 says it absolutely is.
7. Moody, Nature-Driven Color Palettes

On the opposite end of the opalescent spectrum: plum, fig, merlot, dusty olive, and muted terracotta. Searches for “plum and olive wedding” are up 1,380%, and muted terracotta is up 545%. These are the palettes that photograph like paintings — rich, warm, and specific in a way that generic blush-and-sage never quite is. If your venue has wooden beams, stone walls, or candlelight, this is the palette that was made for it.
8. Convertible and Layered Bridal Looks

Corseted drop-waist gowns are up 1,405%. Dresses with capes and boleros are up 270%. Searches for 1980s wedding dresses are up 1,090%. Mermaid draping is up 330%.
The common thread is versatility and drama. Looks designed to transform from ceremony to reception, or to tell a story through silhouette alone. Capes and boleros in particular solve a real bride problem: the look that feels complete and formal for the ceremony, then becomes something different and more relaxed for the dancing. If you’ve been debating a second look, this trend is essentially Pinterest data telling you that a layered approach is having a major moment.
9. Kitsch, Personality-Forward Cakes

“Kitsch cake” searches are up 545%. “Flower pot cake ideas” are up 715%. Tiramisu cakes, polka dot designs, oil pastel finishes, sculptural tiers with personality — couples are treating the cake table like an extension of their overall aesthetic rather than a default. It doesn’t have to make sense in the abstract. It just has to feel like you.
