There is so much to love about this intimate + sophisticated “midsummer garden aesthetic” wedding editorial from event designer + planner Dani of DC Design Consultant and the talented San Antonio vendor team that put it together.
But two things in particular have totally taken our breath away.
The first one is the way they seamlessly blended the shoot’s modern aesthetic with the rich, historic + industrial elements of Carriqui, a chic spot in the heart of San Antonio’s Pearl. Former brewery + factory turned creative + curated artsy hotspot, Pearl dates back to the late 1800’s when Carriqui had a former life as the factory’s local saloon. Salvaged stone + wood made for a sturdy time-worn backdrop that the shoot’s contemporary design vision balanced beautifully with modern decor + details orchestrated to effortlessly blend “style + sex appeal.”
And the second one is the way they made a celebration planned for a small guest list (only 20) feel so lush + spectacular! If you’re thinking about keeping the headcount at your own wedding low, this editorial is a masterclass in how to plan something intimate without sacrificing scale.
Esther Makau took such beautiful photos of everything this team of Texas vendors created, and we can’t wait to show you!

Look at this sleek halter neck satin Amsale wedding gown from Julian Gold Bridal! We love to see a bridal silhouette that’s equal parts contemporary + classic.

Wander Weddings was behind the day’s radiant hair + makeup looks. Loving those loose waves!

The simplicity of this wedding gown was definitely asking for these pearly statement wedding earrings by Nicola Bathie.

“We were inspired by rich botanicals and the unique coloration in multi-tone begonia plants for this design concept,” says Twyla of florist Remi + Gold. “Incorporating plants into the wedding floral designs can elevate the visual impact by allowing for natural density.”

Very into the timeless elegance of this classic black tuxedo from Jos. A. Bank.

The Ceremony

Bridal accessories are such a fantastic way to connect your wedding look to the day’s decor. This embroidered floral wedding veil from Julian Gold made the modern bridal style vibe feel so at home in the ceremony’s lush botanicals.

We’d like to make a toast to this tray-full of tasty wedding cocktails that Carriqui created for the shoot.

The Reception

“While we were hosting a small number of guests,” Dani of DC Design Consultant says, “we chose to keep the scale and drama alive by our bold table arrangement.”

SO into these potted plant hanging installations! Plants like these are a brilliant eco friendly wedding design option that mean less waste + lots of earthy texture!

“We complemented our modern layout with a bold patterned black and white linen, black base plate, and metallic touches of gold through our stemware and chairs,” says Dani of the reception setup + tablescapes. “To tie in traditional touches into our design we paired a scalloped plate for the amuse bouche with a classic two-toned hemstitch napkin.”

“The name sake of the restaurant, the carriqui bird, played a supporting role in our design as well,” says Dani of these amazing avian reception menus from Stamped Paper Co..

Reverie Social provided the show-stopping b+w floral pattern table linens that gave the reception its distinctly modern + botanical look.

Why stick with a traditional furniture setup when you can get creative + dynamic with your shapes? We love a reception that uses round tables to create a unique + curvy take on the typical banquet table.

Restaurant Carriqui wasn’t just the day’s dreamy backdrop: it also provided the shoot with its delicious + decadent feast.

“Begonias are unique in their ability to tie together the color ways beautifully with their depth of tones which made them perfect for this table scape,” says Twyla of Remi + Gold. “There is also an added benefit of being able to bring in layers with varying heights and shapes that allows for creating more interesting designs when using these unique botanicals.”

There’s a trend on the rise that always brings a tear to our eyes: When the bride + groom sneak a peek at their reception before the guests arrive and get to privately take in the celebration they’ve worked so hard to plan.
Check out this fringe-filled Chicago wedding and this Brooklyn art museum wedding for two of our favorite examples of this moving moment.

Delicious wedding desserts were created by Gourmet Bakery by Monica Sanchez.

“The modern meets traditional theme continued through our cake designs as well,” says Dani of this total masterpiece of a three-tier wedding cake with modern black design accents from Cakes By Cathy Young.

You basically can never have too many bridal accessories. We’re absolutely in love with this feathery bridal purse also known as the J. LOWREY ‘Emily’ bag.

The celebration kept rolling after the sun went down with singer-songwriter Lacy Brinson and her band serenading the shoot’s talented team.

We are so smitten with this sophisticated San Antonio midsummer micro wedding editorial. Congrats to the whole creative team. Can’t wait to watch the intimate + immersive weddings it inspires come to life!
