When Haylee and Amit said “I love you to the moon and back,” they meant it literally. Their destination wedding in Oaxaca was pure celestial magic, from their galaxy inspired decor to their moon themed reception under the stars. 🌙 ✨
It’s a fitting theme for a love story that was also written in the stars. While the couple had worked on the same floor at JPMorgan Chase for a year, they didn’t actually cross paths until they both joined a social volleyball league and connected at a company outing to a Flyers game. “We ended up talking the whole night, and the rest is history,” says Haylee.
To celebrate the stars aligning that one fateful night, Haylee and Amit tied the knot with three celestial themed celebrations under the beautiful Oaxacan sky. Their destination wedding blended Hindu and American traditions, as well as rich Oaxacan touches infused with bold designs, personal details, and an unforgettable first dance.

Under The Stars
“We kicked things off with a star-themed sangeet that felt like a galaxy dream,” says Haylee. “The dance floor had a celestial design, star-shaped lanterns hung above, and our tables glowed with gold votives and mirrored accents.”
“Our friends and family performed incredible dances for us and honestly, it was one of the most fun nights of our lives. Suvai catered the event with delicious Indian food, and Chivo Rey crafted cocktails named after Amit’s parents. Total crowd-pleasers,” says Haylee.
Talk about starting the wedding weekend in style! We have major starry eyes for Haylee’s traditional midnight blue dress and sparkly half-up half-down hairstyle. (P.S. We found similar celestial hair pins here!)
Under The Sun
“The next day was our sun-themed Hindu ceremony at Jardín Benjamín,” says Haylee. “This one was all about color, culture, and joy.”
Starting with this radiant ceremony design! “We chose warm, sunny shades: yellows, oranges, pinks, and an overflowing mandap covered in flowers,” Haylee shares.
Nothing sparks dopamine like hundreds of sunset-hued flowers glowing in the sunshine! Proof that there’s no such thing as too many blooms for your ceremony backdrop.
Speaking of sunshine, the couple welcomed their guests with this sun-kissed string art display. We love creative (and photo-worthy) wedding sign ideas!
To complete the traditional ceremony, Haylee wore a red and gold lehenga and Amit donned a white sherwani. Like the rest of their wedding weekend, their attire was a nod to their unique love story. “From Ladlee in Georgia to Divya Agarwal in Dallas, and Suitsupply in Austin, our outfits reflected pieces of our journey,” says Haylee.
“Planning a wedding isn’t easy let alone three events, two cultures, and a destination!” says Haylee. “Amit focused on the Hindu ceremony, and I took the lead on the American-style one and all the decor. But we collaborated on every detail. Our incredible planner, Xanath Banuelos, was such a creative force and helped bring it all to life.”
Our Favorite Memory
My favorite moment was walking circles around the fire while our bridal party showered us with petals. It felt like pure magic.

Under The Moon: The Ceremony
Haylee and Amit’s third and final celebration was a modern American wedding day inspired by moonlight. The vibe? Dreamy, elegant, and minimalist, infused with unique touches from their Oaxacan venue.
If the moon were a wedding bouquet, we’re pretty sure it would look a little something like this. From the luminous white blooms to the cascading greenery, it’s the definition of elegant whimsy.
That’s what we call a wedding day glow! Haylee channeled natural glam with her wedding makeup look to complete the elegant aesthetic.

Ceremony time! “Our final event was the moon-themed American ceremony and reception,” says Haylee. “This one leaned into minimal elegance with deep greens, black, and accents of blue and purple.”
We love how Haylee’s traditional mehndi was still a part of her American ceremony look — such a gorgeous way to blend different cultures on your big day!
For another unique and personal touch, the couple wrote their own vows and were married by a close friend. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

Under The Moon: The Reception
When we say we want wedding decor that’s out of this world, THIS is what we mean! Haylee and Amit set the mood for their moon-themed reception with a seating chart inspired by all the lunar phases.

This lush + ethereal design continued with the reception tablescapes. “The reception was rooted in local Oaxacan details: cactus, corn, blue candles, artisanal pottery,” says Haylee. “Catedral served incredible local food, and the cocktails (and dance floor shots!) kept flowing.”

“Immediately after, we danced our way through the streets in a traditional Oaxacan calenda. In heels. In my dress. It was unforgettable,” recalls Haylee.
Consider this your sign to tie the knot outside of the US! “When it came to choosing where to get married, we knew we wanted something vibrant, full of life, and meaningful. Oaxaca offered everything we were looking for: rich culture, stunning food, and a small-town charm that created the intimate, walkable experience we dreamed of for our guests. Most had never been, and we wanted this to be a travel adventure they’d never forget,” says Haylee.

For their official first dance, Haylee and Amit returned to their venue for an intimate moment under the moon.
“Our first dance? Disco, of course: ‘My First, My Last, My Everything.’ It just felt right,” shares Haylee.
To complete the disco fever, Haylee traded her elegant wedding gown for a feather-trimmed dress and these Betsy Johnson rhinestone boots. Obsessed!!
The couple spent the rest of the celebration dancing the night away under the moon and stars — aka, the perfect end to a celestial-infused wedding weekend!
“The memories we made, from vows to spontaneous street dancing, will stay with us forever,” says Haylee.
