Today’s wedding is oh so beautiful and you can really see the love between Kristin + Brandon. You may recognize the groom – it’s photographer Brandon Kidd whose works I’ve featured on Green Wedding Shoes here. And even more exciting for them and their clients, Brandon will be teaming up with his gorgeous wife Kristin as a husband + wife photography team! I love that they will get to spend their life working together! And, to top it off, their gorgeous wedding was captured by the one and only Jasmine Star. Jasmine is one of the sweetest people I’ve met and I’m honored I get to share her work today. Kristin and Brandon were sweet enough to send over some details from their day, so I’ll let them talk about their beautiful day…
The first photo are my shoes – from Anthropologie – on my grandmas memorabilia box. For my wedding dress I knew that I wanted something simple but also something that made a statement. My mom actually found it for me the first time we went looking. My favorite detail about my dress is the ribbon that wraps from the front. And when it’s bustled, the back is absolutely adorable! I bought it from Mariposa Boutique in Anaheim. I’m not sure who the designer is.
My hair piece was borrowed from a friend. She found it at Forever 21 on a headband and changed it to clips. I wore my grandmother’s earrings.
I love all these portraits Jasmine captured – sweet, fun, and you can really see how much they love each other.
We knew we wanted something different so we decided to use raw cotton throughout our wedding. We knew as soon as we met with Lauryl Lane that she knew exactly how to create what we were dreaming of, and she completed surpassed our expectations! Our favorite part of the florals were: cotton, balsa wood flowers, and the assorted sticks and pods. I think Kristin’s bouquet is one of my most favorite ever – so unique and original. Perfect rustic vibe they were aiming for.
The ceremony took place at the Oak Canyon Nature Center and the reception was in a friend’s backyard. How gorgeous is the cotton hanging throughout the trees! Love all the little details they thought of so much!
We sponsored the construction of a water well to be drilled in Honduras this March and Kristin and I are actually going to physically drill the well along with Living Water Int’l. We had each of our guests right an encouraging note to the future well recipients as we are going to personally hand deliver the notes during our trip. The pencils they used to write the notes was part of their thank you gift.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was our cotton! We were so excited when we decided that the main ingredient to our décor was going to be raw cotton. We couldn’t have loved how our floral designer Lauryl created amazing pieces from it any more! Also our s’more station around a fire pit… they are soooo yummy :) Also having Chipotle cater … we were their first wedding ever!!
Our wedding cake was simple and perfect! Topped with a little bouquet of our florals. In addition we had an assortment of mini desserts. The cake and all the sweets were by Melody of Sweet and Saucy Shop.
Kristin: Our first look. I was so thankful for the opportunity to see Brandon before the ceremony. We were able to really enjoy a few minutes just the two of us without any distractions. It was really special to us…plus we got great photos and video from it! :)
Brandon: probably at the very end of the night.. all our guests had gone to light the sparklers for our grand exit while we got to enjoy dancing to “our song” just the two of us.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding?
The biggest challenge for us was the weather since our wedding was completely outdoors. (The week before their wedding, there was crazy weather her in Cali – an insane amount of rain, hail and even tornadoes!)
What are you looking forward to in the future?
We couldn’t wait to move in together and start our life together, which is the most exciting part for both of us! We’re also excited to move forward in our photography business together as well. We have been a team for the last 2 years and now that we are officially a husband and wife team we are super excited to offer that to our clients. We see the importance and significance in having a husband and wife team document your big day (hence why we did)
We feel like we will be able to relate to our couples more deeply and intimately.. especially just being recently married ourselves. We will be better able to capture the important and meaningful moments and details of our clients wedding day as well as document their love story weather it be the engagement or their 25th year anniversary
Thanks so much Kristin + Brandon for sharing your creative and personal wedding with us. And thank you to Jasmine for letting me sharing your beautiful photos! You can see more from the wedding on Jasmine’s Blog and the video by Shade Tree Films on Brandon’s Blog (along with his work and more details about the day). Congrats you two! Can’t wait to see the weddings you capture as newlyweds.
