When the bride is involved in the wedding industry—she’s seen a thing or two. Today’s darling bride, Marina, is a makeup artist and knew she wanted a day brimming with rich hues and luxe details. Dane, the groom, is a woodworker, so together they’re both seriously creative.
Marina shares: We have a quirky sense of music, and possibly style as well… We kept it classy and elegant, but with a very moody spin! And, as it turns out, what she thought she wanted in the first place (a very minimal and simple gown), was not what she fell in love with. That just goes to show you that sometimes you see a picture-perfect wedding and want to recreate it, but it’s 100% okay to change things along the way and go with things that feel more *YOU.* In fact, we implore it. Make things more about you + your love, always, always, always. Oh, and just wait until you see the groom’s dapper suit—we’re ALL about it!
Now, let’s head out to Woodland, Washington to see the day Keen Events designed, in all the photos Naba Zabih Photography snapped!
Their Stylish Threads
Marina tells us: I walked into Jaclyn’s Bridal in Costa Mesa on a very random day visiting family in California. I fell in love with the exact opposite of what I was looking for. I wanted simple and sleek, though when I started trying dresses on I fell in love with all of the glitzy, lace dresses that were more princess-like.
Turns out I’m a bit more “extra” than I thought! I had her remove all of the fluff and add 3D lace flowers to make it my own. Still the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen.
How dapper is Dane in this burgundy suit? Here are a few other threads we dig:

The Enchanting Ceremony
All the greenery + that burgundy floral arch! Blue Floral Company allowed the beauty of the surrounding area to shine while complementing it and adding a woodsy *pop.*
Processional: Intro by The XX
Recessional: Someday by The Growlers
First Dance: The Boat Song by The Black Angels
I spy a marble-inspired vow book. How cute is that?!
The vows. The vows. The vows.
The Newlyweds
Talk about sultry! How stunning is this photo?!
Marina is a makeup artist, so naturally she did her own makeup…and WOW. What a look!
The Moody Reception
Everything tied in the burgundy hues so elegantly. Don’t you think?
Make sure your venue is exactly what you’re looking for, is communicative, and doesn’t allow for two weddings in a day. You deserve to have the venue the entire day.
At the end of the day, it was all about their love and being surrounded by those who mean the most to them. We can’t imagine anything more romantic.
Congratulations, you two!!

This is so beautiful, amazing wedding
What is the name of the venue they used? It looks like something we have been looking for.
What venue is this? I’m on the hunt for this type! It’s beautiful.
I’m almost positive it’s the Empress Estate out in Woodland, WA
