New York Metropolitan Building Wedding: Kate + Sean

Metropolitan Building wedding

New York’s Metropolitan Building is one of our all-time favorite venues, so it’s always fun to share a wedding there + see how the couple personalized the space! Kate + Sean were totally won over by the building’s vintage charm and with a few key elements and a stylish, yet rustic, vibe, they were able to make the setting a fun reflection of their adventurous, outdoorsy personalities. According to Kate, We both love the outdoors and assumed we would have an outdoor wedding but when we saw the Metropolitan Building we knew it was the place. I wanted to incorporate our love for the outdoors inside with beautiful things I had collected, everything from the branches, glass bottles for the flowers to geodes, gems and antlers.

Funny how sometimes your day can end up being completely different from what you originally envisioned, right?! But as you’ll see in these gorgeous photos by Pat Furey, it looks like S + K’s celebration turned out exactly as it was meant to be!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Seeing everything come together, things that we spent over a year dreaming about finally happening in live action. Entering cocktail hour was really special for the both of us because we were able to be part of it all. It was also a really special for me when Sean surprised everyone by playing Neil Young's Harvest Moon for the father/daughter dance. It was also pretty rad when our photographer Pat grabbed us at the end of cocktail hour to to take some fun photos outside, we were more relaxed and they were really silly and beautiful.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Don't underestimate your guests ability to consume vodka, make sure you have enough to please. Also, there really are no rules about what you have to do, we felt really strongly about making this day as much 'us' as possible, even if that meant tweaking seemingly traditional things.
