Wes Anderson Colors Meet Gucci Maximalism in This NYC Elopement Editorial

“After a decade of shooting NYC elopements, nothing gets me more excited than working with couples that love color!” says photographer Sylvie Rosokoff. Wanting to “inspire couples to think a little differently about what’s possible with their elopement,” Sylvie found the perfect collaborator in florist  Tasha Muresan of BLOOM BLOOM. Together they dreamed up a playfully opulent, color-forward editorial that nudges the boundaries of elopement style towards maximalism and luxury.

The shoot’s story begins and ends at Fouquet’s—a luxury hotel in Tribeca with a chic, Parisian aesthetic that’s a quick walk away from the city clerk’s office. An excellent pre- and post-elopement spot! In between there’s plenty of gritty, gorgeous NYC magic and maybe even an adorable furry friend (cause why wouldn’t you want your dog at your elopement?!).

Sylvie acted as both photographer and planner for the project while Tasha took on event designer duties in addition to her work on the day’s gorgeous florals. Photo and floral assistant Victoria Jane was on hand, too. Tons of talented vendors full of ideas came together to bring Sylvie + Tasha’s vision to life, and we are absolutely obsessed with the eccentric and eclectic elopement editorial they created!

GOODS GANG provided a bunch of quirky, colorful paper goods for the day. There were custom vow cards and a special elopement card GOODS GANG created in which eloping couples can keep up with to-do lists, sweet day-of memories, and other elopement details. There’s even a spot to save their city hall ticket and any instant photos they take on the day.

We love the way that hotel room keys were included in this detail shot! Also, how adorable is that heart-shaped ring box??

Shaun Lewis of Oser House—inspired by what would happen if Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine was in a Wes Anderson film styled by Gucci—created Ash’s hair look for the day.

Photographer Sylvie captured exactly what’s so gorgeous about florist Tasha’s arrangements for the day when she called them “unexpected.” We love the elevated wildflower vibes of this pink, purple, and maroon bouquet.

Florist Tasha of BLOOM BLOOM wanted to explore a modern take on the Dutch Masters in her arrangements. About the day’s florals she says: “I imagined that bringing together a mix of flowers that originate from so many corners of the world would add to the overall feeling of opulence — sweet peas, narcissus, anemones, a variety of orchids, lotus flowers and unruly Japanese alliums, there was nothing understated about any of it. I imagined that the intimacy of the day might feel indulgent, and this couple rode that feeling all the way”

Rachel Mannello is behind the prop styling for this rich spread. We are IN LOVE with the way she embellished fresh fruit with pearls. And with those twisted white taper candles!

The color palette for the editorial emerged from juxtaposing rich old-world colors against the ultra-modern pop of Ash’s lime green dress.

Some thoughts about elopements from Sylvie + Tasha: “Eloping (in NYC or anywhere) offers so many opportunities to break from wedding traditions and plan a day, or a trip, that’s entirely for you. Wear a bright green dress; have an over-the-top floral/dessert spread in your hotel room with your dog after your super simple city hall ceremony—there are countless ways to have fun with it!”
