A Vibrant + Playful Micro Wedding in the Las Vegas Desert

Lexi + Alec’s love story began with a blind date to an unforgettable Miami Vice-themed college party, and after nearly a decade together, these two tied the knot at an intimate-yet-exciting desert wedding with one of the most gorgeous + unique sunset-tone color palettes we’ve ever seen.

Even better? Their wedding date was on their actual nine year anniversary.

“We made our entire wedding about our family and friends instead of being about us,” says the couple about how they approached planning. “We’ve been together for so long that we wanted to thank and celebrate our family and friends! We wanted them to have the time of their lives, wear incredible outfits, dance their butts off, and not have to lift a finger.”

The Las Vegas desert celebration took place among the cacti at Cactus Joe’s Desert Garden + Nursery, and, with help from the planners + event designers at Ember & Stone, Lexi + Alec’s fun + colorful vision came to life. There were disco balls glittering in the desert sun. There were fuchsia + bright yellow florals. There was a “wear something that’s been in your cart forever but you’ve never had an excuse to wear” dress code. And –with their guests’ good time in mind — Lexi + Alec packed the reception with games, tacos, and a string light-draped dance floor.

We’re loving every second of this sunny desert celebration, and we can’t wait to show you these fabulous pictures from KMT Photos!

The day’s paper goods—created by Homestead Ink and Studio Sanchez—set a colorful, playful, and retro-inspired tone for Lexi + Alec’s celebration.

We absolutely cannot get enough of the rhinestone-embellished eye makeup look and glamorous Old Hollywood curls that Set & Fury created for Lexi.

And bride heading out into the desert sun needs a pair of bridal sunglasses! They paired perfectly with those statement starburst bridal earrings! Lexi’s accessory game was unstoppable, and photographer Khali said it best: “It took her wedding look from just chic and classy to eclectic and glamorous!”

A Sunny Desert Ceremony

Vibrant fuchsia, orange, and gold floral towers from Roots Flowers + Events added bright pops of color to the ceremony setup while simultaneously looking like they belonged there among the cacti in the arid Nevada landscape.

Okay. Time to discuss this totally stunning wedding dress. Bridal simplicity at its finest!

“I was completely set on not going dress shopping and just finding something online,” remembers Lexi of her journey to this Alyssa Kristin gown from A&BÉ Bridal Shop. “After many failed purchases, I decided to finally go dress shopping on a whim with my mom but had no idea what kind of dress I wanted. The dress I chose was the most simple one I tried on, but I felt so myself in it… and I knew I would have a BLAST accessorizing to make it my own.”

“Lexi + Alec did not have a formal photo list, just requested I get lots of candid photos of them with their family and friends throughout the day,” says photographer Khali of the couple’s approach to the day’s pictures. “Lexi + Alec say they did not regret it all, and it helped them get to spend more time with their family and friends and be more intentional.”

“I do think we are trending towards spending more quality time at weddings and less formal photos, as couples are loving candids.”

During the dreamy desert ceremony, Lexi + Alec exchanged wedding rings from Olive Ave Jewelry and Marrow Fine.

String Lights + Cacti

The reception’s long banquet tables and ghost chair guest seating came courtesy of Modern Vintage Rentals.

RSVP Party Rentals made sure the tablescapes were full of chic-yet-fun warm-tone decor like gold rimmed champagne coupes, shiny gold flatware, and saffron napkins.

Who doesn’t love a taco!? Lexi + Alec’s guests enjoyed a festive taco feast from 911 Taco Bar.

We love to see couples repurposing ceremony floral towers for reception decor! Such a clever and ultimately eco-friendly wedding planning move.

Modern Mixtures provided the night’s mobile bar, and Events With A Twist was there mixing + pouring Lexi + Alec’s delicious wedding cocktails.

“Probably one of my favorite and unique details?” remembers photographer Khali: “They made custom coasters as favors for their guests modeled after Anne Taintor napkins, and they were HILARIOUS.”

These have to be some of the cheekiest + most clever wedding guest favors we’ve come across.

Nothing better than a reception full of fun + games! Guests got to try their hand at shooting hoops…

…and solving the giant custom sip + solve crossword puzzle!

Lexi’s fun + fringey reception dress from Womance! We are speechless!

Our Advice

From Lexi: "Trust your gut! Cliche but I would send people pics of ideas and they’d go: 'Hmmm interesting,' or something and I was like: 'Wait what?! I thought this was so cute!' And almost changed my ideas based off those responses. I didn’t though, and I picked things I wanted and loved and didn’t ask for opinions, and I didn’t regret a single choice! I love every choice I made still!!"

Our Favorite Memory

The dance floor. Every guest felt so comfortable and free (which is exactly what we hoped for) and we saw the best dance moves of all time.

Tunes from DJ In Las Vegas and lighting from LED Unplugged made for an unforgettable party atmosphere under the desert stars.

And don’t miss their film by Howie Photography!

Congrats, Lexi + Alec, on your colorful desert wedding day! All the best from GWS!
