Silk + Tulips: A Stunningly Timeless Wedding in Palm Springs

“From start to finish, Tate + Emily left no detail untouched when planning their Palm Springs wedding at Ingleside Estate,” remembers planner Chloe from Chloe Alise Events. And it makes sense to expect that kind of hands-on, comprehensive, think-of-everything event planning energy from a bride + groom when both — yes, both — of them are festival producers! 

Emily + Tate first met at a work event in San Francisco back in 2019, bonding over their total nightmare of a boss. “It made for a very tough few weeks for all involved,” Emily remembers,“but luckily, as people say, good things often come out of bad. The start of our relationship came out of that disaster – so we tend to believe the saying is true!”

Their sunny + stunningly timeless February wedding took place beneath swaying California palms. “Palm Springs holds a special place in both our hearts,” Emily says. “It’s somewhere we have travelled together often, and it made perfect sense for a February wedding that our friends near and far could fly to relatively easily!”

“I’m from Australia, and Tate is from Texas, which, coupled with the fact that we travel a lot for both work and play, has meant we have a broad circle of family & friends from all over the world,” says Emily. “To have everyone together in the same place and for them to get to meet each other, and become friends themselves, was amazing to watch.” 

There is SO MUCH to love about Emily + Tate’s timeless wedding aesthetic (the way it focused the color world on elegant ivories + leafy greens; the draping details; the killer after party). But you wanna know what we’re truly hyper-fixating on?? These florals. Emily’s bold orange tulip bouquet. The swooping, upside down, white, full-stem tulip garlands. The wild, romantic, explosive aisle arrangements. All of it so divine.

“We wanted our love of each other, of laughter, and of a good time to be the directive of the whole weekend,” Emily shares. And these photos from Kadi Tobin capture these joyful key elements so clearly.

“It was the perfect intimate detail-filled weekend for a couple so intentional,” planner Chloe remembers. “Each guest walked away saying, ‘That was the best wedding I’ve ever been to.’”

“Emily wanted the color palette for the day to be mostly white, ivory, and greens – but knew her something bold and orange had to be her bouquet,” Chloe recalls. “She wanted long ethereal draping tulips and Perry Florals knocked it out of the part with this insane statement bouquet.”

Wanting something more unique to start your wedding day in than a classic silk robe? We’re very into Emily’s strapless lace dress as a getting ready look.

“The minute I tried on the Sasha by Danielle Frankel I knew it was my dress, but it took me a bit to find it,” says Emily of her wedding gown decision journey. “I had always thought I would wear a flowing, heavy silk wedding dress; but once I started looking, I tried everything else on first!”

“I had it in my head that I wanted to walk down the aisle in something people wouldn’t expect me to wear. I found some incredible options, but something just didn’t sit right, especially for a Palm Springs garden wedding. I finally tried on the Sasha dress, a ‘quintessential Emily style dress,’ and immediately I knew I needed to be true to myself and what I had always guessed I would wear – it was perfect. I kept it very simple with a Danielle Frankel veil, matching ivory silk Jimmy Choo mules, and minimal jewelry.”

The Ceremony

The reception of this coastal garden wedding in Thailand did a similar thing using calla lilies!

“Guests arrived and were greeted with the brides’ favorite cocktail (Aperol Spritz) and watched the ceremony set against a gorgeous backdrop of draping and palm trees as the sun was setting behind the mountains,” Chloe shares.

Our Favorite Memory
Undoubtedly, our vows. We each spent a few months writing our own vows and had put a lot of energy and thought into them. They were very important to us. So, being able to share our vows with each other and everyone there was magical. Sharing the stories of our love, how the other makes us feel, and why we love them was, honestly, just so much fun. When we got to the end of the aisle a few minutes later, we looked at each other and both said: “That was so fun, can we do that again!?”

“We were set on a hotel takeover from the very beginning of planning,” Emily says. “We wanted all our family and friends to be in one location together for the whole three days. It allowed for a more relaxed schedule and a chance for us to get proper time with all of our friends.”

“Ingleside Estate was the perfect size and layout for what we wanted. To top it off, the on-site restaurant & bar Melyn’s was an infamous Rat Pack haunt, which for us, was the perfect location for us to have the afterparty with our own rat pack friends.”

After I DO

“I wanted something that was really refined with great details, but wasn’t black tie,” groom Tate says of how he chose his wedding suit. “I just wanted to mesh something a bit creative, a bit formal, but still relaxed in its own right.”

“A friend showed me a blue double-breasted blue Cifonelli suit. I loved the cut and the look of it, but I didn’t want to go with a blue suit. I basically took a photo of it to Hall Madden and asked them to make it in a dark green, which I’ve always liked wearing. I couldn’t have asked for a better final product!”

This has to be one of our fave pics of the whole wedding. That cascading orange tulip bouquet with those floating ivory tulip garlands!!

“I added a gold and pearl backdrop necklace so that later in the evening, when I took off my veil, there was an added bit of fun!” Emily says.

Our Advice
Remember that it's supposed to be fun and a celebration. Just like any other event you’ve ever been to, not everything will go right, but no one will notice the mistakes! Something will go wrong, someone will be upset, something will break - but don't forget the whole reason why you're having a wedding is to celebrate you and your partner. Having all of your closest friends and family around will likely never happen again, so remember to slow down and enjoy your time spent with friends, family, and each other.

When you look back, you and your guests will much more remember how the wedding made them feel than any specific thing. So keep it fun, remember to laugh as much as possible, and everything else will flow.

The Reception

How sweet are these retro-minimalist striped menus!! Ingleside Estate catered the day’s delicious dinner.

VERY into the high drama of this voluminous ivory table draping.

Bright Event Rentals outfitted the celebration with all of its carefully chosen furniture, decor, and linen details.

The color world and the cascading fabric and the calla lilies — this wedding feels like the outdoor version of this dreamlike drapery filled all ivory wedding.

When you’ve got Rat Pack history at your Palm Springs venue, you simply have to have custom matches as guest favors.

“When guests moved to the reception, each place setting had a personally addressed note to each person waiting for them — a reflection of the love letters Tate & Emily write to each other — utilizing the same letterhead,” Chloe says.

“They wanted their dance floor to feel friendly and fun for all guests, and Dart Collective really knocked it out of the park all night,” Chloe adds.

Off To The After Party!

“Once the outdoor portion of the evening was done, guests moved into Melvyn’s (inside Ingleside) where we turned the bar into our version of Miami’s Club Space, or as it’s now known as Club E&T,” Chloe says. “Guests arrived in their custom branded slippers and sweatshirts and danced all night into the morning.”

“I wanted ultimate comfort, but make it disco, for the dance floor and afterparty. I found the most perfect Norma Kamali long sleeve mini shift dress made of iridescent sequins,” says Emily of her shimmery, short reception dress.

“I paired it with white suede Miu Miu sneakers,” Emily recalls. “Any chance to take my heels off, I will!”
