Spring has officially sprung, everybody. This is not a drill. Warmer weather is actually on its way, and soon – finally – things will be in full bloom. So we here at GWS feel like celebrating with something a little, well, 🌷floral🌷.
We can’t bury the lead here – it was bride Nonie’s pastel floral appliqué wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier that drew us to these dreamy Alabama “I do’s” immediately. The day’s lovely looks (including Nonie’s stunner of a sparkly pink reception dress by Oscar de la Renta) have been on our minds since the first second we saw these wedding pics by Heather Durham.
We always love a good wedding design inspo origin story, and we know you do, too – especially one this style-centric. The this: Kristen of Published + Pretty (the group that brought this celebration to our attention) says it was the flawlessly floral wedding dress in question that “served as the creative blueprint for the entire celebration.”
“All of the details—from the color palette to the invitations—were inspired by my dress,” bride Nonie shares, “which made the entire design feel personal and meaningful.” Together with florist + planner Uncut Flowers, the couple dreamed up a dual-location wedding day that began at the bride’s family’s home and moved to Mountain Brook Club for the reception, using the hues of Nonie’s dress to create a color world that got gradually more vivid throughout the celebration.
“Nonie + Jack envisioned a wedding that unfolded in intentional layers — beginning with an intimate, family-only ceremony, expanding into a refined seated dinner with more guests, and culminating in a high-energy, color-soaked band party with their entire crew,” Kristen says. “At every stage, the focus remained on closeness, connection, and celebrating with the people who matter most.”
This one’s proof that one single source of inspiration can yield a whole wedding’s worth of planning decisions. From Nonie’s gorgeous wedding dress – a true masterpiece of pastel petals – the couple grew a garden of genius wedding design ideas.
“While fashion played a major role in shaping the aesthetic,” Kristen adds, “the heart of the day was always about marriage, family, and the intimacy of sharing meaningful moments with their closest circle.”

“The groom was dressed in a classic black tux with a bow tie,” the couple remembers of Jack’s timeless look. “His look was effortlessly polished, honoring tradition while feeling perfectly suited for the celebration.”

A Ceremony At Home
“The ceremony was designed to feel quiet, meaningful, and deeply personal, attended solely by immediate family,” Kristen shares.
Our Favorite Memory
More than anything, we were most excited about marrying one another surrounded by our families and closest friends. The guests in attendance for the ceremony and dinner were those who meant the most to us.
Let The Celebration Begin
“We met at college at the University of Alabama!” share Nonie + Jack of how their love story first blossomed. “We were friends, dating other people here and there until we reconnected in Birmingham, both single, about 3 ish years ago.”
“Jack proposed at my house with my pup, and then we went to dinner, just the two of us,” Nonie remembers. “It was perfect!”

Rentals from Quest Events and lighting by AG Lighting + Events got the spaces at Mountain Brook Club event-ready.
“The wedding cake was a pre-cut white cake adorned with delicate pastel butterflies, adding a soft, whimsical touch to the dessert display,” the couple says of this unique sliced up sweets situation. “As a playful nod to Olexa’s Café (where the cake was sourced) pink microwaves were set up so guests could gently warm their slices—just as it’s traditionally served—creating a cozy, nostalgic, and memorable dessert experience.”
“We hosted a seated dinner at one end of the Country Club, then walked together to the ballroom at the opposite end, led by a few band members to begin the celebration,” the couple says. “The hallway connecting the two spaces was draped in fabric, creating a tunnel-like experience, and softly lit to enhance the transition. When it was time for the band party, the lighting shifted to vibrant, high-energy hues—hot pinks and other bold colors—marking the change from an elegant dinner atmosphere to a bright, fun, and unforgettable celebration.”
“Later in the evening, Nonie changed into a show-stopping Oscar de la Renta pink dress,” Kristen remembers of this iconic bridal costume change, “bringing a playful, fashion-forward moment to the band party and signaling the shift from refined celebration to vibrant, high-energy fun.”
