We call the trends as we see ’em here at GWS, and today’s gypsy-esque inspiration rolls a few favorites all into one! You’ll spot a bridal hat (with flowers!) and the cutest mobile bar, plus a few new ideas that caught our eye—perfect timing for the new year! With Forrest and J behind the planning + design, The Typsy Gypsy Wandering Bar entered the picture and the inspiration began to take shape:
Lisa (of Wisteria Photography) and I (Forrest and J) were beyond inspired by this adorable little mobile bar. Running with the playful name of the “Typsy Gypsy,” we wanted the shoot to feel modern and romantic, with a touch of that equestrian vibe.
The team gathered on a private residence in Orange Park Acres, capturing California’s own bare-branched wintery landscape. Captured on film by Wisteria Photography, the magic unfolds below:
Top Trend 1: Pop Culture References
The day took off with a little inspo from Queen Bey herself! Have you ever seen Beyoncé lyrics look so stylish? We’re seeing more and more couples incorporate lyrics, quotes, movies, and books into the day. We think it’s super fun and a great way to personalize the day! For this particular collection of signage, laser cuttings, and paper goods, Midnight Confetti came through with the goods!
Starting off on the right food with these Jimmy Choo pumps!
Top Trend 2: Pampas Grass
The all-white bouquet by Taylor at Salted Blooms featured proteas, cattails, gilded gold leaves, and plumes of pampas grass. The decor darling isn’t going anywhere, with its many boho and versatile uses. Here are some unique ways to incorporate it into your day!
Top Trend 3: Bridal Hats
The bride’s Van Palma hat is the perfect gypsy style detail and also hints at the equestrian theme. We’ve been loving bridal hats since 2017 and expect to see this trend continue toward mainstream!
Top Trend 4: Florals + Hats
Taking the hat trend one step further, the flower + hat combo is a current fave!! We’ve even got a DIY if you’re inclined to make your own! Doesn’t the Southwestern flare via Salted Blooms totally take this hat to a new level?
Absolute lounge perfection thanks to Archive Rentals!
Top Trend 5: Macramé
We’re loving this fun spin on macramé with a modern sign by Midnight Confetti and unique threading details! Thinking about taking up a new hobby? This floral macramé DIY backdrop could easily be scaled down to create a similar effect!
How pretty is that cocktail?!
And let’s talk about that dress! The bride rocked long-sleeved lace in the Snow in Summer gown by Galia Lahav. SO pretty.
Top Trend 6: Cute Mobile Bars
How absolutely adorable is The Typsy Gypsy Wandering Bar?! We kinda wish our kitchen looked like that, tbh…and don’t even get us started on the creative cocktail menu! Check them out if you’re looking for a mobile bar in Southern California!
New Trend Alert! Plant Styling
Aimee with Heart and Frond is a plant PRO, and with a design like this, her talents are the beginnings of the newest must-have! Plants create a scene that you can’t always create with florals, and it’s less wasteful to rent out plants that continue to grow after the event is over—it’s green in more ways than one!
Loving that orangey-red lip pop by Blushing Beauty!
Total *dream scene* right here.
Loving the bride’s stacked rings from Paradigm Design!
New Trend Alert! Next-Level Acrylic Decor
This is something we’ve never seen before! In fact, it’s a little hard to see at first…can you find the bride’s acrylic floral wreath? So cool, right?! Conceptualized by Forrest and J, the wreath was brought to life by Midnight Confetti with laser cutting by Inessa Nichols Design. RAD!
WOW. Just loving this wreath!!
So much great inspiration for design + wedding planning in the new year! Which trends are you loving?
