A Sophisticated + Sparkly NYE Wedding in LA

What better way to ring in the New Year than by saying your “I Do’s” surrounded by all your nearest and dearest?

Desirey + Garrett got 2024 off to an unforgettably romantic start with a shimmery Los Angeles evening wedding at a stunning private home in Laurel Canyon, and we simply cannot look away from this fabulous, shimmery celebration.

This bride + groom have a flawless sense of occasion. In 2017 the couple met + fell in love at a birthday party. On Christmas Eve of 2019, they got engaged and announced they were pregnant with their son, Bear. So, after a lovely long engagement, a NYE wedding was more than fitting for this festive pair.

“The inspiration for the wedding came easy since it was NYE,” Desirey + Garrett remember. “The day itself required as much sparkle as possible.” With coordination help from Waverly Coleman Events, the couple crafted a glam + glittery occasion that perfectly balanced the “relaxed yet sophisticated” and “traditional yet unique” elements of their design vision for the day. 

There were sequins. There were espresso martinis. There were definitely disco balls. And Nikki Finnin Photo caught it all with her camera!

Desirey’s fuzzy “I Do” slippers and satin feather trim pajamas were nonstop getting-ready glam.

Melina Tavira was behind Desirey’s loose, wavy hairstyle and rosy + subtle bridal makeup look.

“I said ‘yes to the dress’ at the most chic studio boutique called Boulder Bridal in Castle Rock, CO,” says Desirey off her dreamy dress shopping experience. “My mother rented out the boutique for a private dress viewing with 8 of my closest girlfriends. The day was perfect and the dress decision was a no-brainer when I tried on a one-of-a kind La Premiere Couture lace corset wedding dress.”

“My girlfriends were in awe of the moment, and champagne was poured to celebrate followed by a wine tasting luncheon at Crush Wine Bar in Castle Rock! Luxury Alterations in Los Angeles, CA beautifully altered my dress in less than a month before the wedding date and did the most lovely job!”

Who says the fun cocktails don’t start till cocktail hour? We love that Desirey + Garrett got ready while sipping espresso martinis!

“The wedding party hand selected their own gowns,” says Desirey. “The only requirement was to shine like diamonds!”

And they certainly did! All together, these silvery sequin bridesmaid dresses make up one of the sparkliest and most iconic mismatched bridal party palettes we’ve seen in a while.

A Ceremony at Twilight

Petals LA outfitted the evening with its flowers, and rentals from Twenty14 Productions turned this beautiful private Laurel Canyon home’s tree-lined outdoor space into a glowy, wintery wonderland.

From the bride: "The most memorable part was the ceremony itself. It was so beautiful and our son was part of the moment perfectly. It was important to have Bear involved as much as possible. He was his dad's best man and stood at the altar with us the entire time. The little guy took his role very seriously as he held our hands, fiddled with my dress, took in the energy of our loved ones and avoided at all costs being pulled away from the altar to sit down and remain calm. It was a beautiful ceremony as Bear stood by our sides and shared in our love. I personally imagined that moment for years and it was manifested into the most beautiful moment I could've ever dreamed."

Ringing In The New Year With A Reception!

Our Advice
Hire a day of planner so you can relax and not have to worry about the day of details or stress about vendors. Pro-tip, if you can't opt for a planner throughout the entire process, consider hiring a month of planner to sort out the last minute details and bring everything together. Things always change up until the last moment and having extra professional help always takes the stress away! Waverly Coleman was a phenomenal coordinator and pulled everything together up until the very last moment. Stick to a vision and don't worry too much about others opinions, take them into consideration, but always stick to your gut. You don't have to follow the wedding rules, after all this is a day for you and your partner. 

Desirey + Garrett put lots of work into their epic first spin around the dance floor as a married couple, and Cottrell Guidry was there to provide the tunes. “We choreographed our first dance with the help of our officiant, Mike Butler,” says the couple, “who happens to be a professional ballroom dancer.”

Desirey + Garrett’s guests got to enjoy an Italian feast from West Hollywood spot Jon & Vinny’s. There were also oysters from Salt and Onyx AND burgers from Doobie Burgers.

Then came this gorgeous pearl + floral wedding cake from Butter Cake Shoppe!
