“La dolce vita.” It’s Italian for ‘the sweet life.’ It means savoring simple things, seeking out what most delights you, and taking things slow. It’s an irresistibly joy-filled Italian way of life. And it was the beating heart at the center of Paweł + Kamil vibrant Sicilian destination wedding.
How would these two lovebirds describe the vibe of their special day on the iconic island just off of the southern tip of Italy? “It combines timeless elegance with bold colour, authentic Sicilian culture, and a celebration of love that feels genuinely personal.”
“Our wedding was inspired by everything we love about Sicily: its vibrant colours, joyful energy, incredible food, and rich traditions,” say Paweł + Kamil of the dreamy destination celebration at Baglio Strafalcello that the grooms drove 50 hours all the way from Poland for.
“We built the entire design around the carretto siciliano,” say Paweł + Kamil of the colorful and ornately decorated donkey carts Sicily is famous for (the definition of maximalist before we had a word for it). “We used it as inspiration for our stationery, flowers, tablescapes, and overall atmosphere.”
The color scheme exploded in primary reds, yellows, and blues. Groom Kamil Konieczny himself was the event designer, and together with planners from My Sicily Wedding he created an event full of jingling tambourines, bright color blocked florals, and sprawling, decadent outdoor banquet tables. Photos from Story Catcher captured that dolce vita spirit so perfectly.
Oh, also – the style?! Flawless + deeply original. The way these two rocked a groom brooch on their wedding day should be studied by wedding fashion scholars.
“As a same-sex couple, we hope our wedding shows that destination weddings like this are becoming more accessible and that love stories deserve to be celebrated in every colour,” say Paweł + Kamil.
“If our day inspires even one couple to dream a little bigger, we’ll be incredibly happy.”

We are so charmed by the vivid invitations that Kreatiff created using traditional Sicilian patterns + color schemes as inspiration. That adorable illustration of Paweł + Kamil 🥰

“We knew from the beginning that we didn’t want matching tuxedos,” Paweł + Kamil say of how they chose their Tiger of Sweden and Pako Lorente looks. “Instead, we chose one classic black tuxedo and one ivory tuxedo.”

“We wanted timeless elegance to create a beautiful contrast against the vibrant colours and playful energy of our Sicilian-inspired wedding.”

Groom style is absolutely allowed to be innovative, fresh, and statement-making, and Paweł + Kamil’s accessory approach is such a perfect example. We’re so obsessed with this lapel pin/brooch idea that we wrote this: The Brooch Is the New Boutonniere

Love to see that Paweł + Kamil’s wedding party embraced the day’s rich, bold color world with these bridesmaid dresses!

A Sicilian Ceremony

“We’ve been together for almost 12 years, and getting married wasn’t always something we believed would be possible, which made every moment feel even more meaningful,” Paweł + Kamil share.

“We chose Baglio Strafalcello because it reflected the authentic Sicily we had fallen in love with,” the grooms explain. “Every detail was inspired by the island, from the colourful carretto siciliano and local folklore to the food, music and atmosphere.”

“The journey itself became part of our story. We packed two vans with our decorations, stationery and countless DIY details, then drove more than 55 hours from Poland to Sicily. It was exhausting, but seeing everything come together exactly as we had imagined made every kilometre worth it.”

These Maria Mannino arrangements are pure, undiluted happiness in floral form.

Our Advice
Don't plan a wedding to impress other people or follow trends. Tell your own story and create an experience that feels authentic to you. Those are the moments your guests will remember the most.

A Party Beneath the Palm Trees

Our Favorite Memory
Walking into the reception led by a traditional Sicilian folk band while all of our family and friends were singing, clapping and dancing with us. Every guest received a Sicilian tambourine as their place "card", and they used them to welcome us into the reception, creating an unforgettable atmosphere full of music, colour and joy.

The custom tambourines were such a cute touch and a perfect nod to Sicilian culture. We LOVE when a destination wedding embraces the traditions of its location.
