Paintings by Monet Inspired This Bright + Botanical Greenhouse Wedding

If you could step into your favorite work of art, which painting would you choose? Would you take a seat at Van Gogh’s sidewalk cafe? Would you stroll the Island of La Grande Jatte as painted by pointillist Georges Seurat?

For Maria Mayer and the team behind this masterpiece of a wedding photo shoot, the answer was: Monet.

Welcome to a fine-art-fueled dream world of a shoot that peeks inside the mind of Claude Monet — the “Father of Impressionism” — and his famously flower-centric work. Conceived as a traditional English tea that was brought to life in Treviso, Italy at Villa Frattina and inspired by French art history, the botanical, Belle Epoque beauty of this inherently international shoot has left us breathless.

“Set within a greenhouse transformed into a contemporary interpretation of Monet’s garden, the editorial celebrates the meeting of Italian elegance, French artistic heritage, and English tea culture, creating a timeless atmosphere suspended between nature, creativity, and human connection,” says Maria Mayer, the multi-talented wedding mind behind the day’s event design + planning among many other things.

The irises. The chic, old-souled bridal tailoring. The yellow striped linens. If you’re a fine art fanatic, if you’re charmed by a spot of afternoon tea, or if you simply can’t resist the sunny floral romance of a greenhouse wedding: these gorgeous pics by Rossella Putino and this editorial’s delicate, intentional, artistic aesthetic are definitely going to speak to you.

“This is not a wedding inspired by a garden,” Maria says. “It is a wedding inspired by the idea that art belongs around the table, in conversation, in shared rituals, and in the simple act of gathering with those we love. A celebration where tea replaces spectacle, craftsmanship replaces excess, and every detail tells a story of authenticity, culture, and connection. An intimate world suspended between Italy, France, and England. A contemporary love letter to art, nature, and the extraordinary beauty of togetherness.”

You’re Invited

“The stationery suite was conceived not simply as an invitation, but as an object destined to evolve alongside the celebration,” explains Maria of these stunning, versatile invitations by Flo Wedding & Event Designer.

“Designed with a transformative purpose, the invitation could later be converted into a frame for the instant photographs captured throughout the gathering.”

“This allowed guests to preserve and display their memories long after the event had ended.”

Impressionist “I Do’s”

“The setting draws inspiration from the enchanting gardens of Giverny,” Maria says of how she incorporated the French town where Monet lived + painted some of his most famous works. “For the occasion, the greenhouse was transformed into a contemporary interpretation of Claude Monet’s iconic garden, recreating its atmosphere of abundance, movement, and delicate imperfection.”

“The ceremony unfolded against a hand-painted backdrop created exclusively for the editorial,” adds Maria, describing the this gorgeous green + yellow setup that was designed and built by Maria Mayer Academy and painted by Maria + Evelyn Margot Tognazzi.

“Inspired by the decorative elements and distinctive color palette of Monet’s dining room in Giverny, the artwork became both scenography and storytelling element, establishing a visual dialogue between art history and contemporary celebration.”

“Lush seasonal blooms, flowering bulbs, climbing greenery, and soft layers of botanical textures enveloped guests in a dreamlike landscape where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors gently disappeared,” Maria says of the shoot’s floral design by Noia Studio.

“Every garment featured in the editorial was custom-made and entirely unique,” shares Maria.

“Bridal and guest looks were conceived as one-of-a-kind sartorial creations, celebrating craftsmanship, individuality, and timeless elegance.”

“Accessories were approached as wearable works of art. Every pair of earrings, every fascinator, and every decorative detail was handcrafted exclusively for the project, reinforcing the narrative of uniqueness and intentional beauty, transforming every styling detail into a collectible work of art.”

“Rather than following trends, the wardrobe celebrated individuality, artistry, and the enduring value of handmade excellence.”

“Soft silhouettes, refined tailoring, and delicate pastel nuances paid homage to the elegance of 1950s tea parties while maintaining a distinctly contemporary sensibility.”

Sabrina of Shanti Parrucchieri created this lovely low bun bridal updo, and Cristina Bufacchi created this soft + shimmery pink wedding makeup look.

Tea In The Greenhouse

“In a deliberate departure from tradition, the classic cake-cutting ceremony was replaced by an
immersive Tea Party experience,”
Maria says.

“Hand-painted charger plates were produced as a limited edition collection for the project,” Maria shares, “transforming every place setting into an individual artistic composition.”

(Also, how great is that bamboo-handled silverware from Integrarent?!)

“The table was dressed with handmade linens, bespoke napkins, and artisanal napkin rings, each created specifically for the editorial,” says Maria, humbly, of the tablescape elements that she herself designed!

Furniture + tabletop decor from Pavo Ricevimenti perfectly set the scene for this impressionist afternoon tea.

Btw, we’ve got a whole list of the best greenhouse wedding venues that anyone loving this sunny, botanical setting needs to see.

The irises! The moss! LOVING this unique mix of cut florals and potted plants.

These white metal garden chairs from Mise En Place were tea party perfection!

Burici Treviso made the day’s catering its own edible work of art.

“Guests were invited to personalize ceramic teacups, commission live watercolor portraits by Laura Palmer, enjoy tea rituals, and dance among the gardens, transforming spectators into active participants,” says Maria of the editorial’s immersive, interactive approach.

“Every element was designed to evoke a slower rhythm, where beauty is not merely observed but lived.”

Not to be bossy, but you need to push play on the video below from Studio Putino.

What a masterpiece! This editorial is a beautiful reminder of what a work of art a wedding can be. Congratulations to the entire team!
