A Modern Classic Wedding at Villa il Palagio In Tuscany Full Of “Relaxed Opulence”

Italy was the first place that Megan + Varoujan ever traveled to together. The notoriously romantic country holds a special place in their love story, so when they were planning their wedding it just made sense to say “I do” in Italia. 

Villa il Palagio, nestled in the hills of Tuscany near the town of Figline Valdarno, is the breathtaking spot Megan + Varoujan chose to gather their friends and family for their destination celebration. (Fun fact: the stunning property belongs to legendary musician Sting and his wife Trudy!)

Megan + Varoujan enlisted the help of event designer and planner Clara from Design Anarchy to create an Italian wedding weekend that embraced the given gorgeousness of their venue and elevated the experience with tons of eclectic details and unique touches. “The setting is naturally stunning and we are fairly laid back people,” says the couple “so we wanted the aesthetic design and flow of events to not feel overwrought, stuffy, or pretentious. We wanted to focus on the joy of our marriage, the gorgeous venue and scenery, and ensuring our guests felt happy and comfortable all of the time!” 

One guest best described the vibe when they noted the “relaxed opulence” of the experience.

Teamwork makes the wedding dress dream work!!

Megan found her dream dress in no time, falling in love with this strapless lace-bodice stunner with a full tulle skirt by Mira Zwillinger at the second bridal boutique she visited.

The day’s lush florals were the work of Luca Cozza. We love how full Megan’s bouquet is!

How cool is this: bridesmaid Elizabeth designed these gorgeous white square neck dresses!!

The First Look

Megan’s elegant high bun updo and soft glam makeup is by Ruslana Regi of Bridal Expert Team.

This billowy tulle veil is the perfect addition to Megan’s classic bridal look. We love embellished veils—don’t get us wrong—but sometimes keeping it simple is the move.

The Ceremony

Those bright orange pops of color from the birds of paradise in the aisle arrangements are hinting at eclectic, tropical-inspired details threaded throughout the day.

The ceremony was held on Villa il Palagio’s chess terrace which features a chess board pattern set into the tile.

The Reception

La Dolce Vita, indeed!! Neon signs like this one add so much personalized party energy to a reception.

We love the way Megan + Varoujan embraced bold, colorful linens like the yellow tablecloth and tropical floral print napkins.
