Never have we seen a styled shoot so on point that’s also so … en pointe 🩰
Featuring dancers from the National Ballet of Canada, this decadently feminine wedding editorial centered classical dance and the silhouettes of 1700’s France. The result? A fresh yet old-souled bridal aesthetic that’s courtly, coquettish, and contemporary-chic all at once.
Photographer Jennifer Moher, event designers from Decor District, and the rest of the creative team that put this editorial together had this distinct + cinematic vibe clear in their minds when they started planning. “We wanted to create a Marie Antoinette film set type theme paired with a 1950s Hollywood feel,” Jennifer says.
So, yes: think powdered wig inspired hairstyles, pointe shoes, tutus, lace, and a historically-informed high-drama all-ivory rococo vibe that feels at once understated and so deliciously over-the-top.
By decking out Fieldwork in Toronto in floor-to-ceiling eggshell draping the team succeeded in “creating a styled shoot that feels like you’re on a movie set.” And it’s nothing but rave reviews from us for this one.
So step up to the barre, everybody. We’re plié-sed to present the romantic, rococo ballet bridal shoot of your dreams.

Gowns Fit For a Queen

“We had custom gowns designed for the shoot,” photographer Jennifer says of these three Atelier Caravaggio stunners.

These towering, editorial, powdered wig inspired bridal hairstyles? Those were the work of Anna of The Beauty Confidante. And the pale-yet-rosy makeup looks were, too!

Absolutely obsessed with they way this gown uses gathered fabric at the hips to recreate the iconic shape of a rococo gown’s pannier.

Who says you can’t time travel even further back than the court of Marie Antoinette? This bridal ruff is exquisietely Elizabethan.

How gorgeous is this off-the-shoulder gown’s dramatic, deep V illusion neckline??

Jennifer shares a key reason she and the shoot’s team brought this unique idea to life: “This is inspiration for photographers to think outside of the box when planning styled shoots. Often we get stuck in the same themes over and over again.”

Well, this one was definitely outside the box. AND over the box! (Dancers — IYKYK). We adored every detail of this modern rococo ballet bridal shoot. Congrats to Jennifer and the entire Toronto-based team!!
