Brides Tayler + Shelby tied the knot in an intimate Malibu wedding that was rich in old-world opulence, was filled with tons of FAB florals, and was above all else: pink!
Bride Tayler is a wedding photographer herself who tends to incorporate a fine art aesthetic into her own work. Pair that with her love of all things Barbie pink and the event designers and planners at CMG Weddings & Events had enough to create the day’s “Malibu Barbie meets Marie Antoinette” design vision. The couple and the design team were all on the same page: “Go big, go pink, or go home.”
And the unbelievable 360-degree ocean and mountain views at Malibu Solstice Vineyards provided the perfect backdrop for every pink detail.
Tayler + Shelby hoped that their wedding would be encouraging to other queer couples in the midst of their own planning process, too. “There are challenges whenever it comes to planning a queer wedding,” says the couple. “Will we feel safe and accepted? Will we fill out a questionnaire that only says Bride and Groom? But, there is so much beauty too. There are no rules. We can both wear dresses, we can choose who walks down the aisle first. We can choose everything! We want other queer people to see our wedding and feel represented, inspired, and understood. You can do whatever YOU want!”

CMG Weddings & Events created the day’s bold and beautiful invitations and paper goods and included absolutely every shade of pink in the design.
“Butterflies became a motif of the wedding,” said Tayler + Shelby. “After our friend Jon passed away we started to see butterflies in the most unexpected places and whenever we see them we always think of him, so we asked the team to include them so that we could feel like he was with us at the wedding.”
Tularosa Flowers truly went above and beyond for Tayler + Shelby’s day. In addition to the mind-blowing floral creations included in the celebration’s decor, florist Dawn had a few surprises for the couple. One of them was this incredible floral lapel piece for Shelby!
We are loving Shelby’s powder pink suit from ASOS! “The color pink was exactly what I was looking for!” Shelby says. “When it arrived and I tried it on I felt that instant emotion. It felt like the perfect one for me.” Also, how perfect are those sparkly Riski Rhinestone Loafers by Steve Madden?!
The First Look
So much excitement!!
Tayler wore the jaw-dropping mermaid silhouette plunge neckline “Constellation” gown by Pronovias. “It was a gut feeling,” says Tayler of choosing her wedding day look. “Being a wedding photographer, I see SO many wedding dresses. This dress had SO many unique features that made it stand out.”
Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding We have a few!
1. Tay’s custom veil & Shelb’s custom lapel florals were highlights for the both of us. We both love surprises & our florist Dawn exceeded EVERY expectation we dreamed up. They were one of our favorite surprises ever.
2. Our family toasts were heartfelt and will forever be a special memory for us both.
3. Ceremony Site: Standing in the floral arrangement w/ the breathtaking view, reading our vows to each other was one of a kind. We both wrote our own vows. It was hilarious because our vows were SO similar; you would’ve thought that we wrote them together! We look back on this memory regularly and will always cherish it.
4. We also loved our first look! It was one of the most emotional moments we have shared together. We dreamed about what each other would look like on wedding day for 5.5 years; and this was the moment. We worked so hard to be able to create this core memory for us and our families; and at the moment we realized WE DID IT!!
The Ceremony

“We used clear acrylic ghost chairs from La Piñata,” says the team from CMG Weddings & Events, “to bring in the old world feel but with a new world modern twist for that Barbie edge.”
LOVE the way that bright pink tulle was worked into these ceremony arrangements to give them all sorts of texture.
This custom pink tulle veil covered in fresh flowers was the surprise that florist Dawn from Tularosa Flowers created for Tayler!

The team at CMG Weddings & Events said it perfectly when they described the different design elements of Tayler + Shelby’s day as being “united by an overarching laid back, loving feel.”

“We worked closely with Tularosa to design a baroque inspired look for the table,” says the CMG team, “intermingling gold candelabra covered in flowers, stacks of pink books and cloches filled with statuary and flowers and pink tulle butterflies to create elegant still life along the length of the table.”
