A Magical Mountaintop Wedding in Aspen, Colorado

Who doesn’t love a high school sweethearts love story?

“We met on the last day of 9th grade at an end of year dance party,” says bride Madison of the way it all began with now-husband Evan. “I asked him to dance and the rest is history.”

After all the years they’ve been together, Madison + Evan knew they wanted to do something spectacular when it came to their I do’s. “Our inspiration was our surroundings,” the couple says about how the astounding natural beauty of Aspen, Colorado shaped the design vision of their day. “We wanted to share that little slice of heaven with everyone we love most and make that a lasting memory together.”

Madison + Evan teamed up with J.Lemons Events to plan a high-altitude stunner of a wedding atop Aspen Mountain with sprawling Rocky Mountain vistas in every direction. Renowned Michelin Key Relais & Chateau destination The Little Nell served as a breathtaking backdrop that the couple filled with joyful + colorful flowers to capture the wild, blossoming tones of the mountainside ecosystem.

“The stationery was a perfect mix of modern and natural,” planner Janie of J.Lemons Events says about these unique, asymmetrical wavy-edge wedding invitations. “The colors help lend a mod pop art feel, but the letterpress & organic texture grounded it in a relaxed mountain feel.”

Can we get a round of applause for Madison’s choice of wedding shoe?! We are head over *heels* for the elegant, sculptural vibe of those Rosalind Pearl Mid-Heel Sandals by Sophia Webster.

“My dress had “I Do” embroidered on the train,” says Madison, “which I adored.”

We adore it, too, since personalized embroidered details (like this amazing Old English script tulle overlay) are one of the wedding trends we’re loving to see right now.

The First Look

Madison’s bridesmaids brought elements of their own style into this single-color bridal party palette by choosing navy blue bridesmaid dresses in unique silhouettes.

We are 100% obsessed with the way that Figment Floral stuck to single flower variations when creating each of the day’s bouquets. SO striking + unique!

The Ceremony

Have you ever seen a more astounding ceremony backdrop?! Thanks, Mother Nature!

“Figment Floral from Denver, Colorado created the whimsical yet elevated setting for Madison & Evan’s ceremony,” says planner Janie. “Garden inspired, with varying hues of orange, red, pink and pops of sky blue grew throughout the top of the mountain.”

“The biggest jaw drop moment of the ceremony was that Madison & Evan’s officiant (their dear friend) said, ‘They don’t believe in soulmates, but everyone around them believes in soulmates because of them,'” remembers planner Janie. “They’ve been together since high school and seemingly made for each other.”

Our Favorite Memory
We have to mention two. First, for us it was our ceremony. It was surprisingly very emotional for us and our guests. Not a dry eye on the top of Aspen Mountain that day! The second is an honorable mention for the meteor shower that night which showcased shooting stars for all of us to enjoy. It was magical. Come to find out, it’s an annual meteor shower called the Perseids, that falls on our wedding day August 12th, every year.

“I truly loved my veil,” says Madison. “With appliqué tulle flowers trailing the trim, the dress and veil together were perfect for my summer ceremony.”

The Reception

Love the way those fun + festive disco balls were so perfectly tucked away in that lush + vibrant hanging installation!

“Madison’s color palette vision for her Aspen wedding was directly inspired from the landscape of the mountains,” Janie says. “Combining the sky blue, blushing red inspired from the wildflower hills, and the light and deep greens of the Aspen mountain range. Where most go with clean white & green, Madison brought all of the best and brightest of the mountains together in one place.”

The delicate dusty blue tablecloths and blue toile napkins provided a soft + sophisticated backdrop for the colorful wildflower vibes of the floral centerpieces.

“Madison was clear from the beginning, she didn’t want the same white wedding rinse and repeat,” Janie says. “She wanted to bring joy and brightness to her day in both colors and vibe.”

Loving the timeless look of this three tier wedding cake! And that antique cake topper!

“What made Madison’s wedding authentic and different and heartfelt were the special details she infused,” says Janie. “But these weren’t just fun favors or generic things she thought up, everything was a personally relevant heirloom like the vintage cake topper from her family that was the showpiece atop a cake that looked like it could’ve been the ceramic topper’s original cake from generations ago.”
