An Intimate + Enchanted Greenhouse Wedding in Michigan

We wouldn’t be surprised if there was suddenly a Netflix series inspired by Jill + Cameron’s love story, cause this is one of the most screen-worthy how-they-met tales we’ve ever heard.

Cameron owns Cobalt Tattoo in Virginia. He gave Jill her very first tattoo. They instantly fell in love, and the rest is history.

When the time came to plan their Michigan wedding, the objective was to create something intimate + autumnal. “Our goal was to make the day feel as relaxed and cozy as possible,” says the couple. So they invited a handful of their closest friends and fam to The Glass House in Zeeland, Michigan, a gorgeous greenhouse surrounded by trees. 

“It was October in Michigan, so it was a little chilly and raining a bit,” say Jill + Cameron. “The colors on the trees were perfect!”

“I bought my dress from Spring Sweet in Holland, Michigan,” says Jill. “I remember being a little girl and passing a dress store in downtown Holland (It was a different store at the time) and always wanting to get my dress in that store…”

“Fast forward to my turn, Spring Sweet now exists, which is this lovely boutique downtown with home goods, women’s clothes, baby clothes, jewelry, all the things we want in life, but upstairs is a wedding dress store. I flew home from DC to a dress shop with my mom and sister and had the most amazing experience. So many beautiful dresses! I picked a Rebecca Schoneveld design that I fell in love with the moment I put it on.”

Hyssop Floral created the day’s breathtakingly rich + earthy flowers. This beautiful warm tone bridal bouquet is only the beginning.

Jill: Spending time together right before we walked down the aisle. It made us so relaxed. It was just us, our photographer and our siblings and it was just such a special moment that we will never forget.

“We were able to talk to everyone during the cocktail hour and dessert, while still spending so much time together as a couple,” say Jill + Cameron of their wedding’s intimate size. “Then we had fires in the fireplaces during dinner with soup to start and apple cider during the dessert reception. We truly embraced that cozy autumn vibe, which was our goal.”

Our Advice
Invest in good vendors. We had delicious food, an amazing florist who we trusted, a gorgeous venue that truly was beautiful on its own, and a photographer who we knew would capture all of the moments perfectly. Trusting your vendors is so important. Remember, this is what they do for a living. Give them your ideas and anything you really want, but also give them freedom so they can thrive and do what they do best. Remember, you hired them because you love their work.

Name something more romantic than twinkling string lights at twilight. We’ll wait.
