Howdy & Namaste: Marigolds, Cowboy Hats, and a Three-Day Celebration in Austin

Weddings are about worlds colliding. What could be a more beautiful thing to behold? (That’s why you’ll never catch us with a dry eye during a ceremony, btw.) And Kashika + Marshall’s Austin, TX “I do’s”  — they are such an excellent example of the rich, multicultural magic that can happen when two people’s worlds collide.

“Hosted across three days in Austin, Texas for 230 guests, this celebration brought together Hindu and Christian traditions, Texas roots, vinyl nostalgia, vibrant color, and thoughtful cultural details,” says Heather from Epoch Co.

Kashika + Marshall’s brilliant wedding slogan really says it all: Howdy & Namaste.

“‘Howdy & Namaste’ became the guiding theme woven throughout the weekend, appearing everywhere from invitation belly bands and welcome bags to bar menus and signage,” says Heather of the way the welcoming, multicultural spirit of the wedding and its motto filled The Arlo.

“The overall aesthetic leaned heavily into Texas garden meets 70s Palm Springs,” Heather remembers. “Marigolds, roses, ranunculus, citrus details, tropical foliage, rattan textures, natural wood elements, lush greenery, and a playful palette of orange, yellow, pink, and green.”

It was henna art and cowboy hats. Sequins, bangles, and classic tuxedoes. It was florals the color of sunshine and lots of leafy green botanicals. And, most importantly, it was pure, palpable joy.

Heather remembers the question at the foundation of the entire celebration: “How do you blend two cultures, two faith traditions, two personalities, and two aesthetics without either side losing themselves?”

The answer’s right here in every gorgeous shot from The Brothers Martens of Kashika + Marshall’s magnificent Texas wedding.

Let’s take a look!

The Celebrations Begin

The three-day wedding festivities got started in bold, bright shades of sunny yellow.

“The wedding weekend kicked off with Mehndi and Haldi celebrations before moving into an energetic Sangeet filled with family performances, Bollywood music, Punjabi beats, henna artists, and a packed dance floor,” Heather says.

“Kashika originally envisioned wearing a white lehenga to honor both Indian and American bridal traditions,” Heather says. “But after visiting iconic Indian designer Sabyasachi‘s first American flagship in New York with her mother and grandmother, everything changed.”

“The moment she stepped out in a maroon embroidered lehenga, they cried.”

The Ceremony: Marigolds + Meaningful Traditions

“Saturday’s ceremony intentionally honored both sides of their story,” Heather shares.

“Hindu and Christian officiants alternated meaningful rituals throughout the ceremony, creating space for both families to feel equally represented.”

Sequins! Gemstones! Embroidered florals! Kashika’s lehenga is nothing short of spectacular. Catch some of our other favorite lehengas in these amazing weddings:

“One of the happiest moments of the entire weekend came just after the ceremony,” Heather remembers. “Guests cheered and rang custom tambourines as Kashika and Marshall walked back down the aisle together.”

“One photo captures Kashika smiling back toward their family and friends. Pure joy. Exactly what the entire weekend was designed to feel like.”

Just After “I Do”

“Bridesmaids wore colorful lehengas from Shop Kynah, founded by one of her sorority sisters,” Heather says.

How did this love story get its start? “The couple met while earning their Master’s degrees in Healthcare Administration in Birmingham, Alabama, and quickly realized they balanced each other perfectly,” Heather shares.

“Kashika gravitates toward city energy, beautifully designed spaces, and dressed-up evenings out. Marshall is happiest somewhere with nature, good music, and a laid-back dive bar atmosphere.”

“Their differences became part of the inspiration behind the wedding itself.”

Lola Beauty did such a breathtaking job with Kashika’s low bun and flawless bridal glam!

The Reception: Vinyl + Climbing Vines

“Music played a huge role in the design direction,” Heather says. “One of their favorite traditions together is visiting record stores while traveling, so custom vinyl-inspired artwork became part of the seating display, escort installation, and reception tables.”

Party at the Moontower supplied the eclectic reception setup’s furniture, and Whim Hospitality came through with all sorts of specialty rentals.

Ida Mayes went above + beyond with the day’s bright, abundant florals. (Also: live potted plants as wedding florals happens to be one of our FAVORITE eco-friendly wedding ideas!)

“Roti tacos with chicken tikka shared menu space with Texas breakfast tacos,” Heather shares. “Tamarind margaritas sat alongside Hill Country Arnold Palmers…”

“Traditional attire blended seamlessly with western fashion.”

Dart Collective had Kashika, Marshall and their guests filling the dance floor all night long.

Nisha Henna Arts was on hand providing guests with their own traditional body art!

“The celebration carried late into the evening with LED cowboy hats, floral light-up necklaces, star-shaped glasses, dance floor energy that never slowed down, breakfast tacos arriving late night, and an Austin after-party that closed out a weekend built entirely around making people feel included, celebrated, and connected,” Heather recalls.

“Because at the center of it all, this wedding was never about perfectly blending two worlds, it was about honoring both fully.”

We are so thrilled for you both, Kashika + Marshall. Howdy + namaste to your new married life together! All the best from GWS!
